The easy road is take each conference champion throw in a seeding and then a Finals = East Champ, West Champ, North Champ, South Champ, these 4 play to 2 then a true National Champion emerges. And no stoopid wildcard, you play the regular season to become your Conf Champion to get into the Finals.

I heard on ESPN that the BCS is planning (sounds like it's almost a done deal) to a playoff format with only the top four ranked teams in a knockout tournament. Probably will be increased to eight teams down the road. Didn't hear the details. We'll wait and see. The more games = more $.

'Bama did not win anything in the regular season, they did not even play for the SEC championship. They sat at home while LSU crushed Georgia 42-10, for the SEC title, at the Georgia Dome!
OSU played another game also and won the Big 12.....again while 'Bama sat at home. And then to have to listen to Saban plead his case and basically beg the public why they should be in the BCS game......pathetic.
The BCS computer should have a trump card that gives more weight to a top team that actually wins their conference, so that way we actually have two conference champions playing for the national title.
The AP Writers poll to me has more weight than this nonsense BCS game ranking system. I mean think about it, how does Boise get dooped again this year out of a BCS bowl game??
Even if Bama wins, LSU has more wins and has beaten more top ranked teams and won their conference. They have already proven they are the #1 team in the country by going 13-0.
Shoulda, coulda, woulda means nothing right now. |
To me, it's so straightforward. If #2 beats #1 in a championship game, #2 is the champion. A computer can't be that illogic can it?
Here's the final AP poll. I think they got it right for the most part:
|
Well only illogic when the BCS nitwits program it ......of course they won the game and deserve the BCS Bowl Title.....but does that one game define a season? I hardly doubt it......Already the BCS gurus were talking about revamping the process. It needs to go away and leave it in the hands of the AP writers poll.
Within the season, 12 games, Alabama did not accomplish as much as LSU nor OSU....that's where BCS system fails. |
I agree with you on the your points you mentioned above. Does the BCS go to a playoff format? Take the champion from every conference then have a NFL style playoff tournament? If so, then there would also have to be a ranking (seeds) system to place the teams. Do doubt there would controversy with that as well.

2011 champs! Undisputed in my eyes.

^ LOL!!! The BCS computer says they are the National Champs....so they are, I mean computers never make mistakes.
At the end of the day Alabama won a bowl game, one game that's all. Who had the better season? Who beat more ranked teams not only at home but on the road and who won their conference.
There is a lot that states LSU is one of the best teams in the nation.....So it just depends on your point of view.
But last night the law of averages caught up with Les Miles.....everything that could have gone wrong did. Alabama had their number all night long, Jefferson was horrible.
Again congrats to Alabama in winning that bowl game, that D is pretty damn good!

I'd kinda perfer if Bama wins it, but LSU is probably the better team overall (from the very little I watch of college football) so I don't really care. I'll say LSU as I think they will probably win anyway.
I'm hoping for the exact opposite of their first meeting...56-52 offensive explosion.

Don't care for the BCS per se and the computers and all that crazy sh*t, I just watch the big games (the "real" bowl games and this one). I'll be watching the SEC game, erm I mean title game for sure! Should be a good one.
I pick Alabama in a close one.

BCS rankings are for sh*t........
Anyhow I expect LSU to win, not by much...but they should. IF...its a blowout by LSU, more than 21points, this LSU team has to be ranked as one of top all time NCAAF teams. |
If Alabama does win, no matter by how much and aren't awarded the national title this would make this whole format more of a farce than it already is. Alabama should of won the first meeting earlier this year but missed 4 of 6 FGs. Alabama by 10.

It'll probably end in a tie if it is as pitiful as the first time they met. Still mad at the BCS for matching up two teams from the same conference, it's just incredibly stupid and unentertaining.

I quite like it actually. I watch very little. Fell asleep during the last Superbowl. |
I'd have trouble staying up to watch it if I were in your time zone.

Anyway, roll Tide. Roll to creating a log jam of 1 loss teams with no legitimate claim to a national championship.
