That Riverside has prevailed is a fluke of the tournament.
[/QUOTE]

They are both pretty much equally popular as this poll has proven

not a fluke at all IMO

No - I voted for Riverside, not against Opeth.

Opeth are a really good band but, on balance, I just prefer Riverside.

Now Marillion have gone, I'm with Riverside all the way.

It seems my anti-Opeth campaign is successful, bwa-ha-ha, but I am truly sorry to see it.  From reviews and comments, it is clear to me that Opeth really is the more favored band amongst our community, I just do not like them at all.  That Riverside has prevailed is a fluke of the tournament.  It's like in a championship game - sometimes the underdog marshalls together and puts on a stellar effort.  This is what happens when you procrastinate!  As it is, I cannot see Riverside defeating Porcupine Tree.  Oh, well.

Well I think it was entertaining enough: the DT vs Talk Talk scare, the Spocks Beard wars, Riverside causing upsets again, the PT vs. After Crying experiment...

Jokes and fanboyism apart, it would have been much more interesting a Porcupine Tree- Opeth final. Porcupine Tree and Riverside have almost the same fan base. My guess is that on the finals, all those vote will go to PT. Perhaps I'm wrong. We'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't sweat it, there's a good chance that the vote that put Opeth over the top was done merely to see how many pages of controversy would result.

Yeah, PT will win the tournament, just like we all predicted months ago. How boring... Unhappy

See, I am absolutely thrilled that Riverside made it to the end and admittedly a little surprised as well.  Go Riverside!

Good for Riverside, they're really one of those bands that I've never really taken the time to get familiar with, maybe I should do that before the finals.

Poll's over. No tiebreaker needed.

Final Score: Riverside 52- Opeth 51 (poll with the most votes)

Riverside is the other finalist. And to think just yesterday Opeth had a 10 vote advantage... Cry

In 45 minutes I'll close the poll (9:00 Prog Archives time). With this score (51-51), Riverside is advancing to the finals.
