Of these, I only know of It's A Beautiful Day and Iron Butterfly (and voted for the former.) Just (3) more items added to the list of things I wish to discover!

I've not heard Sweet Smoke. The others are all very very good.
In the end I voted for IABD. This is an incredible, almost flawless album. It's hard to understand why they didn't repeat the same quality but internal politics might have been something to do with it. Then again, many of the great US bands of the time went backwards or disappeared when the 70s arrived for various reasons - think Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, MC5, CSNY, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Mountain, Iron Butterfly and of course Hendrix, Doors and Janis. There was some sort of post-Woodstock hangover.
BTW apparently IABD narrowly missed performing at Woodstock. They may have achieved the fame they deserved had they done so.

Somewhere between Vanilla Fudge and the Moody Blues (the second one is not as
good though, but still OK) >>> they became Chilliwack and their forsqt two albums were also worthy of hearing. | Between Moodies and Vanilla ,sounds interresting......

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

I'm only familiar with the Iron Butterfly album. I should listen to some of these.

5 great albums. Affinity just beats out It's A beautiful Day. The Collectors formed into Chilliwack. Canadian rock/AOR.

When I first saw In-A-Gadda--Da-Vida, I thought the rest of the selection would be really dull and boring too. But I was so wrong, the 4 other albums here are some of my favorites.

Voted for Sweet Smoke too. The way they incorporate The Doors´ Soft Parade in there is just brilliant and rather original - if one can use such a term regarding a "cover".

Don't know Affinity, but it is hard to beat the Collectors: my favourite 60's album save one.

Some nice records from the late sixties that helped progressive rock to gain momentum.
