If Michael Jackson is pop, then there's really not much difference between pop and rock anyway. That distinction was relevant in the 50s and 60s but with more rock influences getting into pop via ABBA and later on MJ, it is not, anymore, at least so long as it's not from the artsy side or the out and out hard rocking side of rock.
