After the first two listens I can say that I've found both the album and the EP very good. Maybe a bit too reminescent of Tool, but this is not a bad thing. Sometimes the vocalist reminds me to Serj Tankian (who is a great vocalist).
However I need to listen more before reviewing. Those are just my first impressions.

Thank you so much for listening us, I hope you'll like our project (we spent a lot of time to write the last album).
We're actually sending cd's for reviews and searching for a contract. We're not listed on the site, but I promise that I'll do very soon. I started this topic 'cause I was looking on internet if there were some new reviews of our last album and I found a discussion on our first Ep, so I decided to create this discussion :) I'm looking forward to reading what you think about our music. Thank you so much. |

This sounds like a great album from your post. I will have to hear this soon. I have a few reviews I am working on now, but I think this will go high on the priority list.
I have to ask, are you sending CDs out to reviewers?
and secondly, as there is no official listing, are you going to be listed on the progarchives website soon? I couldnt find you on the lists and normally bands who post in this section are officially listed.
Thanks for letting us know about the music!

"Luminescence" is our first self-produced full-length released on November 2010. It's exclusively published as free online download, coupled with a physical CD including all artwork and lyrics and
also an empty cdr. You can download entire album on: http://www.psychocean.org/ Our 2007's Ep "Embryonal Confinement" is available on: http://www.jamendo.com/it/album/9715 (our Jamendo page is: http://www.jamendo.com/it/artist/psychocean) Our biography: Catania' based Psychocean release their first EP “Embryonal Confinement” in October 2007, a concept-album dealing with the labour of the contemporary man, condemned to lead his life in a “free and democratic” prison by social patterns and suffocating routines. Explicit reference to the works of Orwell, Palahniuk and Chomsky are not to be denied. Opening track “Overtones” has been enclosed on the "NeuroSounds Vol.1: Stones From The Sky” compilation CD. Quite a lot of successful gigs within the national boundaries followed, as well as an openingact slot for renowned band Zu, and several good achievements in various competitions (Unirock 09's first place winners, FRU 08 and IndieConcept 2010's second place winners) alongside with enthusiastic favour of most of the critics from musical press and roundabouts (Top Demo on RockHard, June 2008, among others) complete this period. The band starts writing new songs, spreading session over a period of one year and a half: the result of this serious commitment of time and reasoning is “Luminescence”, their first full-length album. Lyrics are inspired by modern life alienation, social networksintroduced communication, the everlasting conflict with Nature and man himself' spiritual evolution, as deeply portrayed by Marcuse, Nietzsche, Majakovskij, Mandelbrot, Junger, Borges and Saramago's way of thinking. Carmelo Orlando, Novembre's vocalist, guests on the song "Luminescent Twin", and both front + back CD covers are Tobia Rava's own artworks. Psychocean "Luminescence" is exclusively published as free online download ( www.psychocean.org ) , coupled with a physical CD including all artwork and lyrics and also an empty cdr, in the name of a marked separation between the sheer essence (music) and the mere container (compact disc)... Line-up: Marco Giarratana - vocals Michele Cigna - guitars Stefano Di Francisca - bass Antonio Calandra - drums Special guest: Carmelo Orlando from Novembre.
