The first time I ever heard "Give Love Each Day" by Yes, I thought it would make a great wedding song.  It's a lovely tune.

Add in, I dunno, "Kayleigh" by Marillion, and my personal wedding song, "In Your Eyes" by Pete Gabriel.  For some reason, we also featured "Still the Same" by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, even though that song's about a habitual gambler.

Incidentally, if you're getting married and are considering putting your own bitchen playlist together, try this: DON'T.  Let a pro take care of it.  There is a formula that works, and deviating from it will likely keep your guests plastered to the back wall.  Sad, but true: we did the "Copacabana" in my wedding and everyone did a freakin' conga line.  I hate that song, and I hate conga lines, but there I was, right in it.  Sometimes you gotta give the people what they expect.

Metropolis pt. 1. The epicness of it should describe the epicness of marriage ha ha. I also think Bridge Across Forever from Transatlantic for the sheer beauty.

And You And I and Afterglow, as already mentioned, are great choices.

As for other songs... Horizons, maybe? Trio (King Crimson) might work too, depending on what you want.

Of course, La Faulx by UZ always goes down a treat, heh.

It's hard for me to say. If it were me I'd probably do less prog and more Chopin Embarrassed

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot. Depending on the vibe you're going for, Open Country Joy by Mahavishnu Orchestra could be a great choice.

I wouldn't go with prog. Maybe some modern classical like Arvo Pärt?

How about "Voyage of the Acolyte"?

Any song would fit great, I think.

Except maybe "Ace of Wands" and "A Tower Struck Down".

Interesting topic !

The voyage (Moody blues) is a great instrumental piece.
Most of camel's "snow goose" is appropriate, especialy "Rheyader".
"The discovery" from Renaissance's "azur d' or" is perfect and exactly what you asked for.
I would also use Albinoni's adajio.
I second Karda estra as a good choice.
'La cathedrael de Strassburg" (Focus) is another excelent track for you.
Fern knight's self titled album is another album you should consider.

And most important - keep in mind that what realy matters is not the wedding day but the life you live after it.

I'm not going to suggest an instrumental. I'm going to go for two yes songs, both of them wonderful love stories:
1. If Only You Knew
2. Turn Of The Century
You'll have her and them weak at the kneesTongue

Sorry, I'm not so sure about Turn of the Century; it's about the death of the lover of a sculptor (though it's a very beautiful song indeed). And you And I seems to have better suited lyrics... as far as they can be understood.
How about From The Balcony from Yes.

If I'm not wrong it's more about the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea, the sculptor who falls in love with his creation.

The first thing that popped into my mind was, although not instrumental, Wedding Song by Loudest Whisper. It is short, sweet, mellow, with some fantastic female vocals. Heck! you could even dance to it.Shocked

I second this. Cool

It's a song about eternal love, a love that can never die, and, indeed, a love that transcends death. Sounds perfect for a wedding to meTongue

Congrats Clap

I'm not really an expert in romantic wedding songs but i think the following are quite pleasant:

Dawn is a feeling - Moody Blues
Nights in White satin - Moody blues
Afraid of sunlight - Marillion

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

Greg Lake - Closer To Believing (Lake/Sinfield 1977 from ELP -Works Vol One)

I would say this is the most romantic song I've ever heard without it being cheesy or slushy. Just some very beautifull sentiments expressed in a nice old fashioned sort of way.

If you want something a little ironic and to raise a smile then Queen's version of the Wedding March from the Flash Gordon soundtrack might be worth thinking about.

Congrats!

Karda Estra is an instrumental band with beautiful, mellow music. Try something off of Eve or Constellations, both albums are great :)

The Enid has some pretty good stuff as well and are worth checking out.

Some Chamber Rock should fit the bill, stay away from the darker stuff (Univers Zero, Present, etc.), some songs by artists like Aranis and PikaPika TeArt should do well.

Maybe the Japanese post-rock band Mono has something to offer as well? Their music is beautiful.
