 Topic: Black Sabbath vs Deep Purple

Very hard choice, as I like them both… The metal fathers Sabbath
were ground-breaking, great in the 70s and until Heaven & Hell, the rest of their discography
is mostly forgettable. If I vote for DP it would be because during their shockingly long and prolific career they have represented a wider variety of genres, psychedelic,
progressive, hard rock, blues rock, metal etc., their latest album being pretty
good.

For me, Sabbath albums have the longevity - they never get tired.....
Purple I've adored for many years, but, apart from their first 3 albums and Made In Japan, that's it. And I used to have around 15 albums of theirs.

Exactly..."Made in Japan" was the 1st live album I ever bought and remains the only DP album I own. I give DP props for one the best live albums ever, but Sabbath single handedly invented doom metal so it's not even close for me.

Not a huge fan of either band but I like more Sabbath songs than DP, so Sabbath it is

that's a tough choice poll, I can't make up my mind.
Love MKII and MKIII Deep Purple and Black Sabbath had a great string of albums up to Sabotage.
Can't decide.

gahhhh... i like both bands during this time, but i believe i know more Purple songs than Sabbath so they get my vote i guess.

Deep Purple had more facets to their sound, especially in the 60s when they were more adventurous. BS was a trend-setting band to be sure but not as exploratory.

Black Sabbath 'cause i started out on BS & they were my fave band for decades-though i like DP very much.Now it's kinda a tie for me between Hawkwind & BS for my favorite band.

Purple and Sabbath. Actually, Tony's old pal and best man Bonzo used to joke about the "Purple Sabbath" sound. He would have some interesting things to say about the Born Again album. Loads of great albums from both bands. Just avoid the dodgy compilations (especially how EMI license the Purple catalogue so wantonly) and all should be well. I like those polls where one can like both equally. Extremist division just causes consternation, controversy, criticism (subjective) and a few other words beginning with C this time. Anyway it's 2013 and both bands have new albums out and are touring. Hats off to the Purple and the Sabbath.  NP: P. Tchaikovsky - Symphony No 5 in E Minor. An elpee.
