They're not particularly good musicians - Herman Li is definitely a case of speed without substance. And no, they're not prog either..!

Is this a serious question? I like DragonForce, but I don't see
how you could consider them prog. Yes, they're all good
musicians, and they have longer than average songs, but those
don't qualities don't necessarily make somebody prog. In my
mind, the thing that counts against them (in prog terms) is the fact
that nearly all their songs follow a basic verse/chorus
structure. There's nothing wrong with this, but if a band wants
to be considered prog (and I don't think they do), then they would have
to develop their songs more.

Does anybody know DragonForce? They are considered melodic speed metal, but I definitely wouldn't say no to having the word progressive in their title. The keyboards, vocals, and many of the guitar riffs are definitely progressive. They play faster than any other band I know, which may be a turn off to some people. I think DragonForce should be considered for PA. They have a few MP3s on their website, www.dragonforce.com.
