Topic: Worst albums ever!!! Posted: October 08 2012 at 01:09
Hey Buddy! Bit of a closet Scissor Sisters fan here (probably because in their better moments some of their album tracks resemble Roxy Music a little), but their cover of `Comfortably Numb' was not too bad! Yeah, super disco beat behind it with falsetto vocals, but I always felt a good cover (whether I like it or not) is when an artist completely reinterprets a song, and makes it sound like one of their own works.

I lasted 1min and 8 secs !!! I love their use of odd time sigs and rhythmic displacement.........Oh, hang on a minute, they just haven't got a clue, no concept of timing, tuning, and, to be honest, I sound better after a bottle of vodka (and that's not something anybody wants to hear......). I'm sure they're beginners and perhaps didn't rehearse beforehand coz that's just slops.
Reminds me of when Scissor Sisters covered Comfortably Numb - transforming the Floyd track into something of a disco tune with whiny vocals. Ugh
That lasted 1:29 before I had to shut it off to keep my ears from bleeding. Who let that guy sing anyway? He carries a tune as well as I do.
Never heard that Scissor Sisters cover, but did like their song "I Can't Decide". Probably because it was in a Doctor Who episode. And the lyrics amused me.
God that is awful. Did they even practice before the gig? I hope they weren't taking themselves to seriously on that one. The guitarist can't even get half of the chops down and the drummer can't even lay a steady groove. The Shaggs did it better!

I can only think of non-prog bands/artists which are insipid beyond (my) comprehension - Black Eyed Peas, James Blunt and Aqua come to mind immediately. I rather listen to nails down a chalk-board, or an Elton Dean Quintet album !! (And I love E.D.'s work)
James Blunt is actually not that bad!
I realise he has his fans, but I can't stand his puney voice, and he's way too polite. Bland city.........

It's amusing to see a bass player with absolutely no concept of tempo. Pretty much the only thing bass is expected to do is keep time, and he's failing miserably at it.
