>I need to feel keys
When you play on the screen move and bend as if it has an effect on your tone/dynamics even if the app doesn't recognize it. Whatever comes out is what the app allowsto be produced, but attempt to create those extra elements just to satisfy the dynamic musical urges that the app holds you back from even though it can be futile.

As an example I made this quick song prelude with the new Geosynth app, that one and Samplewiz are amazing apps.

I think they have potential but it's just too easy to end up leave earth for a few eons just noodling around.

It has potential as a performance controller, and you can actually dock it to various Akai products with real keyboards and everything, but just sticking a keyboard on the screen is no good really. I need to feel keys, not a screen.

Nice article, thanks. I certainly didn't expect to see still life painted by Hockney, though!

And for my turn I have this:

^ Sure, that makes sense. Still, even when someone doesn't have an iPad the videos are interesting. I must say, when I first saw Rudess playing solos with his iPhone on DT tours, my first thought was "how cool is that" rather than "must - get - iPhone". LOL

Here's the follow-up to the video above - more jamming.

I'm not arguing over the qualities of the iPad, Mike, just providing a possible explanation to the lack of replies in the thread (which you mentioned).

I find it hard to play those virtual keyboards though ... I keep hitting the wrong keys. Morphwiz is great in that regard, since you often slide into the notes and sort of play by ear (you just stop at the right note). Great fun in any case.

My only problem: I got the iPad in December, and the iPad 2 will soon be released. Normally I don't fret about always having the newest technology, but if the iPad 2 really comes with a retina display (2048x1536), I might be tempted ...
