This is such a loss. At 52? That's frightening. |

I am a DJ at my local pub... We play classic and prog rock a LOT. I will be playing some Karn on Friday whether they like it or not. I played some Japan last week and a few people got up and danced. I was shocked. This really sucks. He was possibly one of the most unique sounding bass players in music. His sense of adventure on his instrument was unparalleled. I for one will really miss his music. Sad day for everyone! |

It's very sad to hear about this. His bass work was a big influence on my own playing and I loved his work with Japan and Gary Numan. Rest in peace.

Sad news indeed. He was a uniquely gifted player with an immediately recognisable sound. He will be sorely missed.
As for Gerry Rafferty - now that he's gone, shouldn't he be accepted here? Surely "Baker Street" (probably his best-known song) is 100% prog folk! |

Very sad news indeed. The man played a huge part on the musical stages of my life. Inspiring, inspirational, influential, progressive. Let us lower our heads and raise a glass to this great musician!

Ah, I cannot believe this fact. His performance was very original. I will repeatedly listen to "Bestial Cluster" and "JBK" for a while.

I am not that familiar with Mick Karn. I do have the Polytown album as well as the Rain Tree Crow album. I'm not really familiar with Japan. Did he ever perform with Bill Bruford with Earthworks, or one of his solo or other collaborative albums? It seems as though I have associated his name with Bruford for some reason or another.
