Q. Can anybody here make album covers?
A. As far as I know there are no prohibitions.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Crikey you are very talented Dean. I really like the one titled Fluidic. I am currently working on a rock cd project but the artwork has already been done otherwise I would have asked you! I wished I had the talent to do this sort of work, if you don't mind me asking, what software do you need to produce images like these?
Cheers Tony C.

Fluidic is a bit of a con (well, quite a lot of a con really) - it was produced using Bryce - freeware 3D modelling software - the skill is in using the software and in placing the "objects" artistically, all the hardwork is done by the software. Its failing is that all "Bryced" pictures are fairly easily recognised and are a bit "naff" - it's 3D modelling for numpties, but it serves a purpose.

All the other 3D imaged covers were made the hard-way using PovRay/Moray - I could never have modelled my Kramer & Vox using Bryce, but I could with Moray (it took bloody hours mind).

Everything else is pen and ink, acrylic paint on paper or Photoshop - but everything gets the Photoshop treatment when making them up as CD covers.
What?

I am going to keep accepting offers to make the cover, and after they have all been sent to me, I will decide which one in my opinion best fits the music.

The album hasn't even been recorded yet but I would like to get a good idea of what the album cover will look like. I can't go too much into detail with the album because it's way too early (I am aiming for a late August/ early September 2011 release). I really want this to be a masterpiece! My influences are Gabriel-Genesis, Glass Hammer, Simon Says, Ayreon, Rush, etc. I don't want this to sound like the typical ELP rip off though which is why I'm taking a long time with this.

I am very impressed with the 3D ones.

I am going to release my first album next year and now I am starting to look for someone who can just make me a simple jpeg picture that I can use for the front cover of the album. I have looked all over the web and most people either want to charge me outrageous prices or can only design for CD covers. This album will just be avalible in digital format, so I only need a jpeg.

I am willing to pay a fair amount if anyone is interested. The album will be called "Surrealavision". It is a progressive rock concept album basically about how TV and the media brainwash people from the time they are infants to when they are elders.

Anyway, if you interested, please email me at [email protected] . Thanks!
