Silver. Rocks. Salt. Garnished with fresh jalapenos sans seeds.
Two of those, then switch to cerveza. Negra Modelo.

I'm having one right now! We're getting ready to fry some shrimp and I'm making homemade french fries. (We have a helluva lot of potatoes to consume before we move ). |

My preferred martini is closer to a 50/50 (technically a different cocktail), and I like it extra dirty. Something like 2.5 oz of gin (or vodka), 1.5 oz of dry vermouth, a splash of olive juice, and more than one olive. |

Gin? Put an olive in the glass, pour in very cold gin generously, and you have a dry martini.

Me too, I wrote lemon unconsciously because they are easier to get where I live (one ocean away from Pennsylvania, so a bit of a silly move...)

Good advice (though I prefer lime). |

Buy a bottle of tonic water to go with it. Slice of lemon added and it becomes very drinkable.

I've never even had a margarita. But right now I have Beefeater dry gin and would honestly mix it with anything if I had it. This is horrible.

Straight tequila shots.
Some fine anejo is the best.

I'd settle for gin-n-tonic...
Actually, I worked with a project manager some years back, and we travelled to the US a couple of times. In the hotel, he used to drink Margaritas all the time. And he would brag in the office: "Sure, when I'm sucking on a Margarita in the US again, I feel I'm really the man." Then one day, a big black guy from Curacao joined our project - 2 meters high, one meter wide, and his last name was Margarita. We never heard the phrase 'sucking a margarita' form that day onward... |

On the rock/salted. Best way to drink it. You get more alcohol for your money as well.

Margarita? She was a fine girl, lookin' pretty trim, a little salt on the rim. Too bad I had to get some pills from the doctor afterwards.
Oh wait, it's the drink you're talking about.
I still like a bit of salt on the rim.

The salt never had any appeal to me. Fresh lime juice and good tequila and I can go on the rocks or the adult slushy version. This if funny though. There's a restaurant in the area called Mexico City Gourmet and they used to do a mix a margarita in your mouth. You'd lay on your back on a table with your mouth open and they'd pour the ingredients in. I'm fairly sure they don't offer this any more. Probably for legal reasons.

Margarita with jalapeņos sounds interesting, but not something I've experienced.
I prefer my margarita's straight-up, stir (or shake if you must) them over ice, but the ice remains in the jug, none the glass - there is no need to have the drink diluted as the ice melts.
ps: a salted-rim is essential Edited by Dean - November 07 2010 at 09:44 |
