For the longest time The Soft Parade was the only thing I had by them and I loved it (even Running Blues). Eventually I got all the Morrison-era albums and it's a tough pick between LA Woman, the debut, and Soft Parade. I went with LA Woman. "Mr MOJO RISING!!!!!!!"

I might be only with about a handful of people, but Soft Parade is an excellent piece of music, followed by their heavily influential debut. |

I've only got the first four and it's pretty much a toss up for me. Anyone have The Doors Collection DVD? If you're a fan and don't have it, get it before you slip into unconsciousness.

Call it the East Coast bias, but I never got into the whole Doors thing....self-promotion was Morrison's real strong suit. That said, LA Woman is a great album, even for a Doors downer like me.

Votes for the post-Morrison material? I'll admit that I'm a little bit surprised.
Also, my pet album is taking a beating. Sad face. |

I hate to do it, but I voted for Waiting For the Sun. There are probably better albums (The Doors, Morrison's Hotel, L.A. Woman, maybe even Strange Days), but Waiting... has something about it that I really like. Maybe it's that it is the least Doors-like album, I dunno. A ton of great songs reside on that album. |

I think their 2nd and 3rd albums were the peak.
Just read a book by Densmore where he said that as early as '67 at the New Haven show, they knew it was over. They could tell by then Morrison was gonna self destruct. Densmore has/had an enormous amount of anger for both Morrison and Manzarek, the latter whom he felt led the enabling parade to make certain the cash cow was not disturbed. |

Bumped. But just once. Are The Doors just not beloved in this general region of cyberspace?

This. Also, the remaster features the entire Celebration of The Lizard suite, which is great.

"The End" is my favourite Doors track. A giant of a track at any time and among the best ever made prior to 1968,
Add "Light My Fire" and the first album has enough to get my vote. LA Woman is a strong contender though.

The Soft Parade's title track is by far my favorite Doors song. It's been a while since I listened to the whole album though. So no vote for me til I do (if I do...)
If not The Soft Parade, it would probably be Strange Days or maybe the debut... |

Soft Parade is their proggiest and best IMO, though your typical Doors fan will say its his least favorite.
