My kneejerk reaction is to say 'lemmings'. But then, that is a bit unfair in terms of the music played throughout all the albums, it is always interesting - anything that involves those musicians is bound to be. My problem with it - and with the 'fans of Crimson' aspect is that for my money, none of these albums are King Crimson at all, only the first one was. The following albums were all about Fripp & co using the fame generated by that first album to justify doing whatever the hell they liked, relevant to anyone else or not. It certainly wasn't a lot to do with 'King Crimson'. People are of course perfectly entitled to listen and enjoy all that followed that first album. But please don't be under the illusion that it has anything to do with the band that played 'In the Court of the Crimson King'.
It was a glorious moment, and momentous for this archive. But it was gone almost as soon as it arrived. |

*sigh* I met RF when he toured record stores in 1979, with Les Paul, pedalboard and "Frippertronics" Revox tape players in tow! He gave us all a rather curious talk about the "vampiric" relationship between fans and performer....
So, just call me a Crim-Sucker! Merry Christmas!

Hardcore Kansas fans like myself are sometimes called "wheatheads."
As for King Crimson...
How about Fripptonians? From the planet Frippton? Who can only be hurt by Fripptonite? Edited by Mr. Maestro - December 23 2010 at 15:49 |

Never thought about it, but the first thing that came into my mind when I saw this thread was "Crimsonians".
