There are some really funny pictures here.

And some really disgusting.

But here is my contribution.

I have this at home. The music is just like the cover, really horrible.

This one has a really crazy album cover, but the music is very good.

I just about fell over in the record store aisle when I saw it. It set me back all of a buck. That’s about my upper limit for joke purchases.

Actually I don't even know when Vikernes joined Mayhem - there isn't any information about that in Mayhem's website - or if he played on any gigs, obviously he was very busy with his own band. But anyhow, he did play the bass on DMDS.

That's correct. Apparently Hellhammer promised Euronymous' parents that he would replace Vikernes' bass parts with his own, but he was just too terrible a bassist.

Btw.
Mayhem is probably the band with the most interesting history - although the sickest history as well. It doesn't really matter if you like their music or not, the band is still fascinating, and of course, it was Euronymous who started the whole black metal scene in Norway.

Together they recorded Mayhem's magnum opus, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". The murderer's out of prison by now, I think.

Sorry but that's not true. The killer (Varg Vikernes aka Count Grishnack from Burzum) was the band's bassist, and the killed was a guitarist (Oystein Aarseth aka Euronymous). The fact is that the guys had some kind of a feud going on which eventually led to the murder of Aarseth because Vikernes was afraid Aarseth was planning to kill him.

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas has already been recorded when this happened, and both Vikernes and Aarseth played on the album. After the murder, Aarseth's parents wanted to erase Varg's bass parts from De Mysteriis (it hadn't been released yet), but didn't succeed.

I heard that the bass sound was tampered with to appease Euronymous' parents. Is this true?

Vikernes was sentenced to jail and is still there.

Funnily enough, he's recorded at least three albums in prison.

And the album cover part is also true!

on page 3 or 4 of this thread, there is an album cover by a band called mayhem. It looks kind of like one of these covers, but is not illustrated. a real life photo of the lead singers dead, gunshot head was used as the album cover.

The guy got his brains eaten by another band member, his skull turned into necklaces and then one of the members stabbed another musician from the same band 23 times to death.

Haha, don't be ridiculous. Do you believe anything you hear ?

First paragraph is true. Second=

GREVEN!!

Seems I got the Norwegian Seal of Approval for my version of the story.

EDIT: Easy Livin, my post about Tony R was intended as a joke, and Tony R received it as such.

The Mayhem cover made me vomit, i'm not kidding, it literally made me vomit.

Another interesting band like that is a Metal band called Hell on Earth. Their shows included such classy acts such as having sex with skinned cows and drinking blended rats. They have quite an interesting song category which includes such favorites as Toilet Licking Maggot, Raped by the Virgin Mary, The AIDS infested blood of Christ, and My God is Heroin. In September 2002 they were even nice enough to fulfill one of their young fan's wishes of dying on stage. They were even nice enough to make a tombstone: http://www.hellonearth.net/news/tombstone.htm

That's definately in good taste...

These people make me sick.
