Anybody else come across a web site claiming to have the complete Pink Floyd ZP sessions - sounds like a scam.....

Blow-up is rather boring: extra-long scenes that suppose a tension/suspense where there is absolutely almost none, the dead body and no aborted end. The best thing about that movie is the Yardbirds concert with both Beck and Page doing Train Kept A Rollin.
I agree, there's probably a depth in it, but the result is quite boring.

The whole thing is about defending the desert (ecology) against a real estate project by denouncing it stongly as the scene shows us the haggling (and "solution for water" ) negociations.
Watch it again with this in mind , and you shall be enlightened yourself!
Calling this film empty of messages suppose that the onl;y thing you remember is the absurd (but memorable) Sand Sex orgy in Death Valley.

I think that you make overinterpretations...This movie has a kind of aesthetic but that's all for me!
the last scene of the film can eventually suggest a protest against capitalism but not in a constructive way!
I've seen better arguments at screen to struggle against the capitalism system

I think you need to see Zabriskie again because the ideological ideas are very strong, especially about capitalism and residential housing real estate. And the final scene (with a version of Careful with That Axe Eugene ) is one of the strongest finale in the last century of film making.

Blow up deals with existencial and metaphysical subjects, the problem and contradiction of inner perceptions compared to reality...this is a masterpiece...Zabriskie Point contains no reflexion, it's totally empty! only the landscapes are beautiful!
Zabriskie Point is a pure product, nothing to debate about it! just disconcerted!

Olivier: the hard drug use is exactly what makes MORE sordid! Whether the movie is for or against is clear (against hard drug use) but those scenes are a bit too graphic.
Philippe: Décidement on est pas d'Accord sur grand chose!

I prefer Antioni's Zabriskie Point , even if a bit disjointed is much more representative of those years. Blow-up concerned London Fashion and barely skimmed the Swinging London. Zabriskie is California summer of love in full force!

Antonioni's 'Blow-Up' is a fantastic 60s movie - sheer class. Unfortunately 'Zabriskie Point' is just cringe-worthy. Utterly dreadful: teenagers talking about 'revolution'! Quite naive really.

Unfortunately, John came fifth and was stuck with a toaster.

All these movies are crap! I regret that an intelligent director as Antonioni made a such insconsistent film as Zabraskie point! Why did he made a silly movie for teenagers in search of evasion? HE FAILED!!! nothing in this movie can equal the genius of Blow Up

More, sordid? it describes with honesty the dangers of hard drugs! this is the subject of this tragic movie! This is a beautiful hippy movie with great image, one of the More inspired PF album as BO.
The characters are playing really great!!especially Mimsi framer who is fantastic in her role...
Underestimate masterpiece that i have seen gain yesterday for the fifth or sixth time without being bored at all!
zabraskie point is a little boring, but i agree the music fits very well with the beautiful image.
And the movie's heroin, Dane halprin is beautiful:
I disagree with you about la vallee: i find this movie very boring and pretentious. Painfully symbolic.

Saw both Shroeder movies this WE. The least I can say is that I was a bit disappointed , because I thought the music played a more important role in the movie.
More is a little more than a drug movie (with a little sex) but also depicts Ibiza hippie lifestyle of those years. Accurate!!!
La Vallee is certainly more interesting but is somewhat of a documentary. The hippie trip going wrong. I was execting some of the superb music to accompany the grandiose lNew Guinea landscapes. Shroeder was not a man of great wealth when he made those movies and the way to incorporate music in a movie the way it has been done in the mid 80's was probably not easily done.
Both Shroeder movies do not come close to Zabriskie point where the music play a bit more of an important role.
BTW , ironically enough , Antonioni's other movie Blow Up was on Arte tv Friday night. Some 25 years since I saw it. Has not aged that well and some scenes are simply tooooooo lenghty.

Both have been re-relased as a dvd! Now you'll just have to find a proper vendor?

I checked that up and yes they are out! I will even rent them out this WE. Thanks for the tip.
I may be stuck in the 70's musically speaking but hell!!! am I glad we live a formidable era. I waited for sometimes to get into Cds (92) , VHS (95) and DVD (2005) but this DVD thing is great because much more things come out since they exist. Especially in prog related items.

has anybody ever seen these films? To jog everyone's memory, Pink floyd did soundtrack albums for these 3 films.More is a drug film by barboet shcroeder, the remastered booklet tells the story.Zabriskie point was a mixed soundtrack effort. 2 discs long this album contains the early version of great gig (the violent sequence?) and it has love sequences and heart beat pig meat. The film was done in 69 along with more i think.La Vallee is another Barboet Schroeder film and the soundtrack was Obscured By Clouds. The remastered booklet also tells the story of the film.i dont know if the films have been remastered onto dvd. Dont even know if they are in english. Anybody seen them? What are they like? |
More has been well remastered on DVD. GREAT!!!!
They done a great job on picture.
Zabraskie point has been probably remastered too.
The floyd pieces on Zabraskie point are excellent, especially "Unknown song" which is a piece from Ummagumma studio album, but with a much better sound.
I don't know if they remaster La Vallée. It's aboring movie.

Zabriskie point is an awesome Antonino movie and certainly a 60's icon along with his other movie Blow Up (also worthy of interest for progheads).
