Peart says that people who shows admiration to musicians are insane. I agreed with him. That's not pretientious from his part. It means that ordinary people can be as intelligent and good as any big musicians.
Music is the refuge of souls ulcerated by happiness.

I was not able to see it in theaters here in Tacoma/Seattle.....but it is now playing on Palladia HD. Saw last Saturday.....excellent documentary. Exposes a lot of stuff I did not realize as a huge Rush follower for the past 30 yrs.
Really makes you appreciate the fact that they have never slowed down (on purpose) and certainly does not look like they are going to anytime soon.
They seem to be having just a huge amount of fun recording, touring and just living la vida loco!!
Their musical minds do not seem to be wanning at all, nor their desire to be contempt with their musicianship......the movie gives you the distinct impression they are still looking for that personal masterpiece of an album.
Looks like we are in for a bunch more stuff from Rush....which should be amazing!!

I just saw a commercial for it about 10 minutes ago. They are playing here in the states on a channel called Palladia. I happen to get it with my cable package. Gonna air June 26 for the first time and they will probably run it a few times.

Saw it at Gurnee IL theater . What a great story. Amazing early footage of the band. Covers every career phase concisely. They handled the whole tragic situation with Neil in a very non-Oprah way. You could see how much they care about each other without it going all mushy. Funny commentary from Jack Black. Must see again, can't wait for Blu-Ray.

Extremely enjoyable film. Covers very well the early years including home cine film of Alex and Neil as teenagers as well as some rare concert footage with John Rutsey. I never realised how close they got to packing it in after Caress Of Steel. That album seriously bombed and they ended up playing gigs to audiences of just 20 people at the worst. The record company put pressure on them to release something commercial so Rush being Rush came up with the complete opposite! 2112 .They were determined to do it their way and go down in a blaze of glory if nothing else.Of course 2112 was a massive success being spread by word of mouth more than radio airplay.
Lots of interviews with mostly prog metal luminaries plus Jack Black.
The film covers Neil's terrible personal tragedies that could have sunk them for good.Peart talks quite a bit about his rehabilation and the relief of finding he could still do it when they returned with the gig at Hertford (USA)
Anyone with any interest in Rush whatsoever will find this film uttlerly compelling.
Great review - Were there any full songs played that were rare?
