Yeh, I might actually do that one at BB Kings.  Get some exposure to them first might be a good idea.

Ok Linda will do.  I think this is going to be a great show.  I haven't had the chance to see PFM yet so I am thrilled at that and then add Proto-Kaw who I think are going to suprise a lot of people this has all the marks of a very memorable show.  I feel very fortunate to be able to see it.  BTW we are going to see P-K at BB Kings on July 5th.  Think you might check that one out?

I believe they only have tickets left to Friday night Pre show with PFM and Protokaw. However if you go the Nearfest site here and look in the message boards you may find someone selling tickets.

Here is the site for the preshow

Swedish Family is EXCELLENT.  If you like instrumental prog on weird, vintage instruments, it's an album to own...

It's got bass/accordian/flute/vibraphone/hammondorgan/guitar/Rhodes piano/minimoog/percussion/drums/sax, and it's sexy.

I bleed coffee. When I don't drink coffee, my veins run dry, and I shrivel up and die.

5:30 AM - Woke up, took a nice hot shower
6:30 AM - Went to grab all my stuff, forgot my Unfold The Future CD, grabbed it
7:30 AM - Said my goodbye, gave me roommate a big hug, and embarked on an adventure!  Listened to:  Mindcrime, Adam & Eve, Flower Power
11:30 AM - Arrived in Metuchen, NJ, at the Forum Theatre
12:00 PM - The doors didn't open, wtf?
1:00 PM - We're all going inside, I spot the merch table, grab a T-shirt, the Swedish Family CD, and Bodin's new album I AM
1:20 PM - Step outside, soundchaser from the TFK forum recognizes me
1:21 PM - Decide to have a quick smoke...  Jonas Reingold's doing the same, we talk a bit, a guy from the TFK forum snaps a pic of me, Jonas, and soundchaser
2:00 PM - The first set starts...  they're introduced as "Circus Brimstone Expanded", it's Roine, Tomas, Jonas, new drummer Marcus, and Hasse.  They play:

Extremely badass improv that includes a bit of Tomas's I AM album
Blues improv including With A Little Help From My Friends
Across The Universe with TOMAS BODIN on vocals (Hasse, Roine, and a guy from the venue doing backup)
Amazing improv piece including Daytripper
More instrumental madness featuring Jonas Reingold nearly killing us all with experimental bass feedback/harmonics/chords <3
Yes - "Soon"

3:30 PM - Q/A session, lots of great stuff...  highlights:  "I don't listen to music.  I don't LIKE music. " - Jonas, "We found him in a gay bar!"  "...why were you in a gay bar, Roine? "  "I recall you were there too.  *I* was looking for a sound engineer, I remember you were fraternizing with the people, I think you went home with one. " - Roine and Tomas
4:30 PM - I meet up with Roine, he signs my Unfold The Future CD, we talk about philosophy and music.  I then talk with Jonas more, he also signs my UtF, then I talk with Marcus about stuff, he lets me in on the setlist surprise for the night (I Am The Sun! ), he also signs UtF even though he didn't play on it, because he plays stuff from it live
5:00 PM - I'm walking outside and run into Tomas in the hallway.  We discuss his new album, we talk for like 15 minutes about his upcoming album, he goes *really in depth* about his upcoming CD, and asks me to email him about my thoughts on I AM, he signs UtF and seems really happy
5:30 PM - Me, soundchaser, heartofthesunrise, starrshiptrooper, and others go out for Italian
7:30 PM - Back at the theatre, we get ready for the real show...
8:00 PM - It starts...  I see a couple of amateur cameraman/women, we might see this footage somewhere.

Compassion, very dark, very amazing
Last Minute On Earth/In The Eyes Of The World, Last Minute was EXTREMELY HEAVY
Love Supreme, really strong live
improvvy Blade Of Cain, lasted about 15 minutes, lots of improv and guitar solos
The Truth Will Set You Free, a bit different from the studio version, lots of parts improved
Cosmic Circus, stronger than I expected live
Marcus drum solo, no one should doubt his abilities
Babylon, fun instrumental piece
Church Of Your Heart, EXTREMELY strong
I Am The Sun, OMG...  ****ing METAL
(encore)
Norah/Stardust We Are Part III, best ending piece *ever*

11:00 PM - I introduce soundchaser and co. to Octavarium, then depart
1:00 AM - Some cashier at a convenience store was wired on something, I bought a 60-cent cookie, pay with a one, and he gives me 31.25 in change, WTF?  Rain starts pouring down in torrents, the next two hours were SCARY.
3:00 AM - Arrive home, running on empty

Woooow...

Great Review.

Can't wait to see them Next Saturday!!!!!!!!!

I'm...  not sure.  Schedule conficts and all, I work nights...  for this occasion I forced myself to stay up for a day and a half twice to knock myself into a daytime schedule and then back into a nighttime one.

Interesting things sometimes happen between me and middle-aged women, which is weird because I'm pretty much gay.

I'd atleast do the Friday night with PFM and Proto-Kaw... thats gonna be fun!!

I will be there with my girlfriend.
