AHAHAHAH!
For the forum it's possible, that there is some variation in discussion, members quality. But it's very un-predictable. As for the site, I think as a whole, we have built a terrific collection of information for fun and reference. And the good news is there is more to come ;-) |

All sites have that, it's always better before X happened or before all the newbies came or whatever. |

No names....just the general grumbling one hears from time to time about how the site is going downhill, doesn't live up to its glory days, blah blah blah. Rubbish of course.

I wonder why PA forum has in average about 20-30 logged members and 100 guests :-/ this simply is something I cannot understand, so many unregistered people.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

The metal scene is very much based on networking and ingrown scepticism to anything new. I would suggest that MMA get in touch with already existing websites and the already thriving metal scenes and network towards them. For example the Norwegian scene where there is plenty of people who want to contribute, but who has no proper outlet for their creativity. Get these involved and some of the more established names as active contributors in MMA.

I've experienced this as well.... (actually to be honest, I more or less stopped posting there and visit quite a bit less of late, precisely because nothing new is happening in the forum and I ended up turning down the collab offer M@X was proposing).... I thought it was growing nicely, but lately it's been stagnating.... but then again Lucas, if you remember the halcyon days of PA, it wasn't a very linear growth either.....
I also stopped importing my PA reviews into MMA, because they're written from a prog POV, and I'm incapable of reviewing from a metal POV (so I won't write new ones for MMA), partly because I'm not a metalhead anymore.... Free specific time for MMA is another issue
But most likely this slump is temporary, because there is absolutely no reasons MMA doesn't trounce PA4s numbers.... too much potential in metal fans circles....
the only thing that's unknown to me is that there might be other similar metal sites that have the same goals and are probably more ancient....
The Jazz Archives??... I'm all for it, but ..... before moving that far.... why not a Rock archives or a Blues-rock/Blues Archives??... it makes more sense ..... Edited by Sean Trane - June 09 2010 at 10:39 |

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

2000 uniques is excellent for a start-up! How many unique visitors does PA have on a regular basis?
