Augury appeared at the Meridian - soon to be Wired Live - on a cold and overcast evening in Houston, Texas. Augury took the stage at around 8:15PM, following the Danish Deathcore group, Hatesphere. Everyone we know and love from the band appeared on stage to set up their equipment, that is with the exception of Dominic "Forest" Lapointe, their incredible bassist; a replacement bassist as of yet, unknown is filling in. I was skeptical at first, but during soundcheck the "John Doe" bassist showed some incredible chops, assuring us that he'd fit right in. After a lengthy soundcheck - no one offered them any help setting up - they began with a number from their latest release Fragmentary Evidence.

Each song was a marvel to behold. Their touring drummer, Tommy McKinnon was as relentless as he was progressive and jazzy. Their touring bassist did extremely well, interpreting Forest's basslines with the adeptness and precision expected. The vocalist/guitarist Patrick Loisel was the star of the show. Many vocalists have appeared on each of Augury's two albums, including female vocals from Arianne Fleury on the Concealed and despite their absence, Patrick gave each song the life it needed.

In short, Augury is an amazing band to behold live! Any fan of progressive, technical death metal should see them. Touring mates, Obscura are also incredible.

Other bands: Hatesphere, Obscura, The Black Dahlia Murder.

+ According to Augury's wikipedia page, Dominic "Forest" Lapointe has actually departed from the band and the "John Doe" bassist is Christain Pacaud.
