"At the Movies" is really good value - you get a triple CD of all his film soundtracks at a low price (got mine for £10). It's an enjoyably varied collection and has some of the piano boogie-type stuff on it. You can also chuckle as Keith goes Disco Prog on the soundtrack to Murderrock. In fact here he is doing just that on Italian TV:

Well you could always go backwards. You might enjoy some of The Nice, with the forewarning that their output is highly variable. I'm not even sure what is in print any longer.
If you're interested in Emerson's roots, check out The Jacques Loussier Trio or of course ol' Meade Lux Lewis, for his Classical influences with the former, and his boogie/stride influences with the latter. Again, not sure what's even available.

Although it pains me to have to agree with the poster , he's right. Honky is a damn fine album which showcases Emerson's roots in blues, jazz and classical. Most reviewers don't appear to notice that Keith's solo output is placed quite appropriately in the 'Crossover' section e.g. This don't sound like Tarkus or Karn Evil 9 so I don't dig it bro etc (WTF) |

Hey guys,
I love most ELP (especially Love Beach obvz) but today I have a hankering for many songs like Benny the Bouncer and the Sheriff. I don't have any solo albums by Emerson, so I ask this: can you recommend one that is full of fantastik, dirty barroom piano? Or one by someone else, in fact, but I crave KE's bravura, see, and I doubt anyone does bravura quite like him. My thanks in advance, Happy the |
