The latest PT is pure symphonic prog in most parts anyway....I do not have a complete love for every bit of output from every band I have heard...too much fan-boyism there surely!!! Obviously a band with very limited output has more chance than those with prodigious discography's!!! However, still can't think of one artist - because they all have less than impressive tracks IMO....

No not progressive music but prog. That's why we haven't included Pere Ubu and The Fall, which both were progressive and rock yet don't belong on PA. We deal with prog ie the genre.
Most prog albums made nowadays aren't progressive, and they don't need to be in order to be on this site.

I agree with you in regards to The Strawbs, not really a prog band however close they came with Hero & Heroine. Great band though:-)
Most of the bands that are here who are not prog bands have their reasons for being here though. Most of the subs we've created on PA are filled to the brim with such acts, but back in prog's heyday these did zoom in and out of the genre - often inspired by the scene or conversely inspiring it.

Anyways back on topic here! I don't want this thread to turn into yet another prog vs progressive bouts.

Porcupine Tree are so-called post-progressive for my ears. It's definitely not classic prog (thankfully though, there's been enough masterpieces released fourty years ago).  Post-prog surely has a different sound and I would call it a separate genre, but it is simply the progressive music of today.
