I agree.
The high frequency of grammar, spelling and punctuation errors would seem to suggest an immature contributor.
Also the mode of discourse chosen by this person seems closer to teenage text messaging than the writing of someone who is purported to be over 50.
Back to the original question; in my mind Yes is superior to ELP in every conceivable way Edited by Green Shield Stamp - October 10 2009 at 08:04 |

It does seem that way to me... most people over 50 that i know berate me for using apostrophes wrongly... which seems to be the least of Hogweed's problems... I'll assume 'innocent until proven guilty' though. (even though that doesn't really work on the internet) Yes just overpowers ELP. Honestly, if i wanted some awesome old-school noodling, i'm not going to put on Relayer, i'm going to put on Brain Salad Surgery. But if i wanted melodic, epic pieces, I'll have to go with Yes. |

ELP put out about two albums worth of material that rivialled the best that Yes could do. Yes had fairly consistent production through out the '70's.
Yes wins because they released a lot more high quality stuff.

I lean towards ELP. With ELP, you get the knife in the ribs right up front. With Yes, there's some sweet talk, all is seemingly good, then you get the knife in the ribs.

Definitly Yes. I like both bands, ofcourse, but Yes has got more songs I like, and there's something special about them for me.

Yes by miles IMO.
ELP were/are a "song-band" for me, there's no album I don't skip a single song, unlike with Yes. However, the songs that I like by them are indeed outstanding, Trilogy, Karn Evil 9, Still You Turn Me On, From the Begining, Knife Edge, Tarkus, Black Moon.... |

ELP by far. I like Yes but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to them, usually I find them a bit boring and Ian Anderson's voice a bit annoying, although I can't deny he's a great singer, but Greg Lake's voice has a lot more feeling for me. I also think there's more diversity in ELP's music.

You know, I've known these two for many years and I honestly can't pick one over the other. Each made their contributions to prog, each indulged in commercialitis...

The best of ELP is better than the best of Yes (talking about songs here). Give me Tarkus over Close To Te Edge any day. Unfortunately ELP had too much garbage to overlook. Yes for me I guess.

Yes for me. Although ELP had some great moments they could get a little too self indulgent at times, something Yes never did.
