I don't think Neil Peart sees it that way!

Wow. Between Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, and Rush, which band makes the most live DVDs? Do I really need another one? I think these three are the worst offenders in this area. Well, at least DT vary the track listing a bit for each live release, so you don't end up with too many versions of the same song.
I suspect this release is for the newcomers, though, judging by the 'best of' style tracklist. |
Yes i think when you start to make a best of live songs, there's some exaggeration, that's for newcomers... I don't agree with you that Iron Maiden and DT are the worst offenders in the area. What about Yes and Maillion in a more prog genre who had made a dozen of DVD's.

Probably because Rush is arguably more popular now than ever and they want something "new" to sell over the holidays. Maybe next year we'll get a remixed Vapor Trails or a Different Stages DVD. The bigger news is the Blu-Ray of R30 that includes the 8 deleted tracks from the show.

you guys can beat me but Rush never grows on me. So far, the band have had my money from 2112, Farewell to Kings, Fly By Nights, Presto, Test of Echo, Snake and Arrow, Moving Pictures. I have given them serious and long-running attempt to understand and like them, but it doesnt seem to work. I like some of the songs, many of the instrumentation moments (esp Fly by night and Farewell to Kings), and I think many of the lyrics are brilliantly poetic. Inspite of all that, Rush is never a choice of music i'd like to listen at all.
Any recommendation?

I am not sure you can like a complete Rush Album, if you don't like Moving Pictures. Maybe for the instrumentals part, you can try Hemispheres

Looks like a nice package, but I just dont think I'd listen to it/watch it that much. I must have five Rush live DVD's as it is. That's pretty much got it covered as far as I'm concerened, and I'm not the collection completionist I used to be.
Besides I'm running out of room in my flat!!

I was notified about this one, but will pass, I am compilationed out as far as Rush is concerned. They surveyed me about Retrospective 3 album and I told them then what I thought. It's not like they need the money unless they have to pay bail money for Alex!
Interesting title though, it's good to see them coming up with new ideas.

If I run across it used somewhere or for a really good sales price I'll probably pick it up just to have it with the rest of my Rush collection, but since I already have all the live videos I won't be in any hurry to pick this one up.

Saw this earlier in an email.
Seeing how I own all of their DVD's - will likely take a pass on this one.
