Nice album! Listened to it once about 2 months ago - somehow I missed this thread though. Here's the list of tags that have been assigned to the album over at PF:

Melodic, Calm, Serene, Smooth, Melancholic, Somber, Guitar, Acoustic-Guitar, Female-Clean-Vocals, Layered-Vocals

Sounds about right. Smile

BTW: The album is available at eMusic.com:

I really enjoyed the first one who was a bit heavier, from the last listening i had before my tape broke! I didn't have a good feeling from my one listening of the new one, but judge by the very good reviews, i am the only one to think that!
Music is the refuge of souls ulcerated by happiness.

I've never been a big fan of female vocals.  For the most part I can't stand the most highly lauded of female vocalists such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, or anyone who has set foot on American Idol.  This said, I've always enjoyed many hard rock female vocalists such as Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, and Nancy Wilson from Heart.  For whatever reason, in recent years I have found myself enamored with some progressive bands with female vocalists such as The Wishing Tree, The Reasoning, White Willow, Stream of Passion/Ayreon, etc...  I'm not really sure why the change.  I've always been a fan of Jon Anderson's vocals, which are considered similar to female vocals.  Anyhow, whatever the reason, I really love the vocals on this Wishing Tree album.  I can see how they wouldn't appeal to everybody.  After all there are people who love Dagmar Krause's vocals and I see very little to like about those.  And I know that Kate Bush is one of your personal favorites, but I have a hard time enjoying her vocals too, so I can see how those differences in tastes would apply.

A track from the album is available on the CD compilation that came with Classic Rock Prog magazine's third issue. Since I only listened to the CD once, I'm giving this particular track, "Hollow Hills", a spin now. Though I am not a particular fan of those ethereal female vocals, she does have a fine set of pipes indeed.

I am finally listening to The Wishing Tree's debut album Carnival of Souls.  It has been an enjoyable listen in my opinion.  I'll definitely be giving it some more listens to formulate an opinion on how I think it compares with Ostara.

I'm giving the samples a listen, and indeed it is very nice, Stobart is a wonderful vocalist.  "Hollow Hills" is a quality track.

I'm curious to know if anyone has heard both this new album Ostara, and their debut album Carnival of Souls.  I haven't heard the debut yet, but based on how much I have enjoyed Ostara, I am probably going to purchase Carnival of Souls.  It is downloadable on Amazon.MP3, so that is probably what I will do, but I am keeping my eyes out to see if I can find a reasonably priced CD first.

I'll give this thread one last bump to see if any additional conversation might take place from it or one more fan might be found.  There hasn't really been too much discussion amongst these threads, but I know that there have been some that have been turned on to some good music that they might not otherwise have listened to, so I am starting to give some thought to the third installment of this little thread series and hopefully will come up with something for us to enjoy.  If nothing else, I have really enjoyed listening to these albums multiple times and getting to know them better than I might otherwise have, given my usual shock and awe listening style.

Just got this today in the mail from Racket. Can't believe it made it here so quickly. I truly wasn't expecting it until the middle of next week.

Got the title track playing right now. VERY beautiful and powerful. Man, girl really has a monster voice.

Time for me to give this another spin.  It has been a few days since I last played it.  A nice side effect of me starting these threads is that I am at least personally concentrating on getting to know one album better by giving it a lot of listens.  I have a bad habit of buying a lot of CDs at once (or downloading them from eMusic) giving them one or two listens and then moving on to the next batch of purchased albums.  There are just so many albums that I want to hear, that I don't really get to know any of them all that well.
This week I am going through and listening to all of the Chicago albums.  I have had them all for quite some time, but they all essentially got one or two or three listens when I bought them and otherwise I just listen to their greatest hits albums.  There really are some good songs on these albums that aren't their "greatest hits".

My wife did question who I was listening to as I was sampling some WT last night. Couldn't resist in buying it, though.

I just pulled the trigger and ordered it from Racket. Probably will get a lecture from the wife, but so what. I sampled it and it really sounds nice. They were very good opening for Marillion on night 2, with her husband on drums, Pete Trewavas on bass and John Wesley helping out on guitar. As mesmerizing as Rothery can be on guitar, the majority couldn't take our eyes off Hannah. Very beautiful woman with a stunning voice.

I will definitely contribute once the disc gets here. What I've heard, however, is awesome!

Actually I'm in the same boat as Michelle...must be something about the state.  I enjoyed the Astra CD somewhat and will give this one a whirl next time e-Music makes me a walloping offer to come back.

I wholeheartedly support the concept of the thread and enjoyed the Astra version of the thread.  I still need to write a review for that one some time in August.

Due to finances lately, I won't be able to purchase it at this time. However, I am quite the emusic consumer. So next time I activate my account I will give them a try. I love a beautiful voice.

Well the short samples I heard on Reverbnation and Myspace sound very nice and promising, soothing, melodic music, relaxing but engaging and the vocals are superb.
I'll see if I can get more to listen to.
Thanks for bringing them up.

I hope that you enjoy it.  They won't blow your socks off with their musical skills like many of the bands that you recommend, however, I find it to be a very enjoyable listen.  Hannah has a gorgeous voice and the music is about providing support for her voice.
