Actually, it's handling all in info pretty good so far, but I was trying to sort the BPMs and it launched into a recalculation of the whole damn mess. I want see what gets the fastest and what gets the slowest. That will be what makes this thing fun. Plus, hoping to be able to get an exercise playlist or two out of it.
Update, well it appears the program has trouble handling large quantities of songs. Probably will have to do it on an artist by artist basis. The last pass had Brian Eno's The Roil, The Choke clocking in at 195.99 and Buckethead's Taxidermy Dots at 77.35. Edited by Slartibartfast - July 02 2009 at 11:25 |

I've installed it and it's importing file names for analysis. I've got a large collection, so the whole process will likely take a while.

Just saw this on ZD Net. It's a freebie. Probably less useful for prog, but it could be fun.
http://downloads.zdnet.com/abstract.aspx?docid=702289&tag=nl.e530 Free application BPM Analyzer determines the beats per minute of any MP3 on your computer, and updates the ID3 tags with that information -- helpful for finding gym music in the preferred 120-140 BPM range. License: Free Overview:MixMeister BPM Analyzer is a free program you can use to automatically detect the exact BPM (beats per minute) of any song. The tags in most digital music files provide no BPM information at all, and others contain estimates, which are often inaccurate. Whether you're choosing songs to mix together, building a playlist for a specific mood, or comparing different versions of a song, BPM Analyzer makes finding the correct BPM easy. This is a simple program, but the BPM measurement engine is adapted from MixMeister Technology's award-winning line of pro DJ software, and it generates accurate BPM. MixMeister BPM Analyzer supports dragging and dropping files from Windows Explorer, and allows you to sort your music list by Title, Artist, or BPM. You can update ID3 tags in your music files with exact BPM information, print BPM reports for your entire music collection, or even export BPM counts for use in other programs like Excel or music databases.BTW, I'll try the program out when I get home and report on it, especially any interesting results it comes up with.
