Topic: Extraneous Devin Townsend album? Posted: July 19 2009 at 15:27 |

I moved all the bonus information to the actual album. Snow Dog, who do I send this to? Unfortunately, for this one, there are two reviews, and both specifically are aimed at the bonus disc rather than the whole package. Hm.

Only M@X can move reviews, manually.

Thanks for helping out! Hopefully this can get all sorted out sometime soon. Ha, and the presence of the "Official Bootleg" bothers me, as apparently no one listens to it anyways, but I'm sure that one has plenty of right to be there.

What we can do is add all the bonus info to the regular release, and then get an Admin to delte it. I've also noticed that Flower Kinfs Rainmaker is here twice.
Ok done that.
This can now be deleted.

Sorry for the bump, but I forgot all about this. Should I PM an admin or just keep this thread resurfacing until an admin takes notice?

Sorry for ignoring this but I'm not empowered to remove entries. Call an admin.

Well it usually is. Maybe none of the people who normally decide these things have seen this thread?

Apparently this is not how to get things fixed around here.

So... does anything happen now? Or does this just sit here and fall off the front page? I'm just wondering if I have to do some more pushing to get this cleared up or something. Because I'm OCD enough to care, I guess. There's lots of other little things I'd fix around here, but I probably should just shut up now...

I also think that essentially a studio album should only have one single entry in the database ... no matter how often it gets re-mixed, re-mastered, re-packaged etc.. People can always mention the bonus discs in their reviews.

I donīt know the releases myself but if they are just re-releases with bonus material they should not have a their own entry. The info on the bonus material should be moved from the new entries to the original album entries. Itīs possible to note in the entries that there are re-releases with bonus material.
There are some borderline exceptions though and it seems that the Accelerated Evolution ( Project EKO) version of the album might be one. Anyone who knows this version with an opinion?

I'm referring to this one: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=2347
Devin Townsend's Terria in a special edition. However, I think its inclusion is a good bit worthless. The special edition of Accelerated Evolution features a second disc (called Project EKO) that is composed entirely of completely different music. Terria's special edition only features a bunch of videos and one spare song. I'm just curious as to why it's considered its own entity? Lots of CDs here (and even other Devin CDs) have special editions with a bonus track or some video content. Why does this one have its own entry? I think it shouldn't. Just a thought.
And, truth be told, I also think it could be clearer to have the Accelerated Evolution special edition be specified simply as the bonus album Project EKO and have the reviews center more on that. Just my thought.
Anyone?
EDIT: Also, on further checking, the Terria limited edition thing has no actual reviews, and the Accelerated Evolution one only has a single review, and that one doesn't even touch on any of Project EKO, just the normal album. If that gets moved to the standard AE page, then we have two extraneous albums with no reviews?
