I voted for Aquatarkus, because of the live version. The triple live LP Welcome Back... was my first ELP album, and it blew my mind. I remember being a bit disappointed at the studio version, but have come to enjoy it quite a bit as well.
Still, that live version of Aquatarkus is just amazing.

I love Eruption, it's one of the best album openers I've ever heard.

Agreed. The other one is embarrasing.
TO THOSE IN POWER... PLEASE DELETE THE OTHER BEST MOVEMENT OF TARKUS POLL!
I'll adjust the initial text of this poll accordingly.

It is hard to pick a favourite part of Tarkus but I go for "Battlefield" - Greg's voice rings out strong - the lyrics are great and I love the guitar solo's which nicely introduces the final part - Aquatarkus. Overall - an amazing piece of work that I never tire of listening to

Stones Of Years. Emerson and Lake formed such a great contrast. I've read that Lake first didn't want to do Tarkus. I'm glad Emerson could persuade him. What a great team, together with mr. Palmer.

ok.. read the incorrect poll and now voting in the correct listing poll... TARKUS
Well since I've seen this performed live by ELP about a 1000 times, I can tell you that my favorite version of this is on ELP's live album "Welcome Back My Friends..." If you haven't heard that version... you really should. Its like being on a Tarkus roller coaster ride and you realize when its over you're still clinched to the bar...
Now.. I've always had a problem deciding exactly which part of Tarkus I like best. Since I'm a little more a Greg Lake fan, I generally go for the main vocal parts and any guitar solos.. when Greg switches from bass to electric... I generally get very excited!! Like the first guitar switch in Mass... and the most exciting one later in Battlefield.
Now vocally, I love the lyrics for Mass.. very symbolic, very amusing and very flaming... but thats what makes it so glorious. But when Greg comes in on Battlefield with "Clear the battlefield and let me see"... thats when I usually melt. Then he has that great guitar solo... Of course on the studio version he has two guitar solos playing at the same time... Not so easy to reproduce live, but he does a great job... and its the voice of an angel... So I guess thats it "Battlefield" is my favorite piece.
I've seen Keith Emerson do Tarkus recently without Greg and Carl.. and I've seen Carl doing a version also recently without Greg and Keith... and the main thing that both of them are missing... is "the voice" !!!!
