Topic: PROG ROCK BAND POLL Posted: January 25 2006 at 23:22 |
Hey Perry, You're right, trying to compare the other four bands to Rush is not fair.
Lifes not fair.
Rush is the best, if you don't believe me go see them on their next tour.

A what the hell RUSH is doing there? I love and admire them but they
shouldn't stand among bands like YES, GENESIS. It's not fair. |
Rush can easily stand amoungst bands like Yes and Genesis. At least Rush
has been keeping a moderately progressive sound throughout their career
(never sold out) and hasn't had the egotistical drama that Yes had
experienced.
And I like both Yes and Genesis more than Rush, but to say that Rush can't
stand up against them is just stupid.

A lot of these polls are stupid. And here, we're only given five bands to choose from.
I VOTE FOR NONE OF THE ABOVE. I VOTE FOR
* GENTLE GIANT *

I can say that I like very much all the mentioned bands, but my favourite of them is, for the inner romanticism and drama, GENESIS.
However, the kind of Prog I like most is broght by ELP.

Yes for me, but this poll lacks some of the major bands.

Though i voted for Genesis i think that prog music is so "chaotic" that noone has a favourite band or song! It's just what comes first into your mind when you answer the question..
Though i would have voted for Dream Theater or Jethro Tull if they were included! (That would have been a hard one! )

A vote for Yes. I have loved this band since the 70s and doubt whether a band could come along now and knock them from the top of my favorites pile, though Spocks Beard comes close.

I tend to agree with perry where's Gentle Giant? And Rush to me is not a "prog" band. AND WHERE IS CRIMSON!
