Surely it' sgot to be 'At the Sound Of The Bell' by Pavlov's Dog.Mr Surkamp sure has a distinctive voice. If you're sticking with PFM how about 'The World Became The World'

Hi,
Gosh ... beautiful ...
This is hard ... but beautiful for me, in music, is really relative ... for example, I have hear 4 different versions of Turandot, and none of them are any better than Renata Tebaldi with Herbert von Karajan at the helm ... and it not only has to do with the music itself, but obviously with the singer and her ability to flow with the music as well ... some feel it and some don't.
That said, for me, it's about ... living and dieing ... when listening to something ... you close your eyes and you are off to some really far off and far out lands and visions somewhere else ... so with that in mind here is my "trip'iest" of all ... and it has absolutely nothing to do with musical style ... has to do with the tripping content in them.
These are not in order, btw ...
Jan Garbarek - Eventyr (get ready for Soria Maria)
Egeberto Gismonti - No Caipira (get ready for the best mix of classical and modern you have ever heard)
Keith Jarrett - Koln Concerts (Side 2)
Amon Duul 2 - Yeti (the long improvisation)
Ash Ra Tempel - New Age of Earth - the first and still best new age album ever
Klaus Schulze - Audentity (Sebastien en traum)
Terje Rypdal - Eos (with David Darling) (skip the first cut please)
Ange - Au Dela Du Delire
Vangelis - El Greco
Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear
Sadistic Mika Band - Hot Menu
Riuychi Sakamoto - Beauty
Carmen - Fandangos in Space
Yes - Tales of Topographic Oceans
Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow
Anthony Phillips - Slow Waves Soft Stars .. and later Slow Dance
Soundtrack related
Blade Runner with Vangelis
Chariots of Fire with Vangelis (well deserved Oscar!)
The Last Buddha - Riuychi Sakamoto
and there are more ... I just can not list them all and would have to go through the collection right now to see what I missed.
All in all, these had music that was a lot more ... a heck of a lot more ... inspirational to me and then some.
There are a lot of other artists that I have a lot of respect for, even if they are not my favorites, and folks like Frank Zappa deserve some credit as a great composer ... unffortunately, even this board is too tied up with music that is more "popular" and we already know how Frank was not into that ...
It's about the music ... and please ... listen to some more stuff ... some of these things listed above are way beyond the determination of what kind of music it is ... it defies description ... I mean ... for me Yeti (the improvisation) is about aliens landing and spreading around .... not about a jam by some rock band.

I agree with Camels´ Moon Madness, ditto Renaissance and Peter Gabriels Passion, Bo Hansson is a great suggestion as well, perhaps Ur Trollkarlens hatt (The Magicians hat) in particular. What else? Let's see ... Nope, guess the important ones have already been mentioned.

With the responses all over the prog spectrum, it seems that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." For me, Camel, Moonmadness, is a beautiful album - even the artwork on the cover. Another is Yes, Relayer - the whole album has beautiful music and, again, the artwork (Roger Dean's) is impeccable...

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I'd have to go for strawbs 'Brave new world' or genisis 'Trespass' including the knife or KC 'In the court of the crimson king'.

Id tend to agree. Its hard to pick a favorite Sigur Ros cd but if i had to itd be almost too close to call between Agaetus Byrjun and Takk, though i think id take the former. also, i cant believe i forgot, this is one of te most acheingly beautiful discs i own.

Fellow prog fans tend to disagree, but Genesis' From Genesis To Revelation strikes me as a beautiful album. It's not aggressive or complex at all, but it's all just calm, nice music.
I personally don't think it's better than others, but it is certainly more beautiful.

yeah, Kind of know what you mean, it is a beautiful album.
Another one I forgot is that swede maestro Bo Hansson - Attic Thoughts
