I only know... two of them Embarrassed , being the two Crimson drummers Giles and McCulloch. In this situation I don't dare to vote, but Michael Giles is one of my favourite drummers.

jon hiseman out that list,    jan fride is next he is another great drummer listen to kraan live ,where is curt cress and eroc .

Here is an example with Jacky Bouladoux on the drums. Forget the rest of the music, it is crap; just listen to the drumming, which is way too good for this crappy song.

If you want to hear him in a better fitting surrounding, listen to Clearlight's album "Vision" or to the two solo albums of Clearlight guitarist Christian Boulé, "Photo Musik" and "Non-Fiction". Anyone who likes the first few solo albums of Steve Hillage should like these two albums too, especially "Photo Musik". And Bouladoux is certainly doing an excellent job on them.

I know only a few of them, but Harald Grosskopf gets my vote. His drumming on 'Mindphaser' (the second track of Klaus Schulze's 'Moondawn'-album) is superb and essential.

Thanks for the different drum poll Baldfriede.Curt Cress is a great drummer and I love Orange Peel.Hiseman is excellent both in Colosseum and Tempest but I really enjoy his work in Colosseum 2.If german musicians are under represented it's maybe because of so many people knowing 2 or 3 details about Krautrock and being happy with it,forgetting other bands such as Embryo,Pell Mell,Novalis.....

Here is a very short clip with the late Freddy Setz, not in too best quality either. He is playing in the band of guitar player Roman Bunka here, with Gerald Luciano Hartwig on bass. Despite the bad quality of the video (especially the sudden cuts in it) I think one can see he was an excellent drummer. Ah well, St. Peter's houseband seems to be especially in need of drummers, with three excellent ones having died in not even 4 years (besides Freddy Setz also Pierre Moerlen and Pip Pyle).

I'll try to introduce those drummers by finding something with them in it on YouTube. I will start with Jarrod Cagwin, who has a little solo at the beginning of this track before the rest of Rabih Abou-Khalil's excellent band join in. This is a very recent video, showing Abou-Khali's band in the current line-up. We heard a concert of them on the radio two or three days ago, and it was excellent, with lots of highly funny announcements by Abou-Khalil in flawless German (he speaks it without any accent, although he was already 20 when he came to Germany).
And here the video; Cagwin has a little solo at the beginning before the others join in; you can hear they are all excellent musicians:

I'm a fan of Hiseman, Giles and McCulloch from here, but I'm afraid I don't really know enough of the others to vote. Will look them up as soon as I can.

Lots of good ones (Liebezeit, Fischelsher, Hiseman, McCulloch, GroBkopf) but Mike Giles' cymbal work ALONE is to die for, a true master , yeah on early Crimson but also on both John G.Perry solo albums , plus with Ant Phillips.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Yes, I could have mentioned them too, especially Cress. Isn't the spelling "Bornhold" though?
What hardly anyone knows: Udo Lindenberg, who is best known for his career as singer, was an excellent drummer too and played with Passport. He has hardly done any drumming for the last almost 40 years though.

I went for Andy, though I imagine Giles will probably top the voting just due to familiarity.
I might have included Joachim Ehrig, Herbert Bornholdt, and Curt Cress in my own list of favs from Ye Olde Deutcshland.

I remember first listening to Jon Hiseman after my old man bought a Collesseum DVD, he blew me away. His technique is superb!

Here are some drummers which are all excellent, but which rarely get mentioned, if at all. Some names will even be completely unknown to many. I did not include my favourite five, simply because I mentioned them elsewhere already and don't like sounding like a fangirl. If anyone is curious about my favourite five, he or she can always ask or try to look up one of the posts where I mentioned them.
You will notice there are a lot of German drummers included. This was done on purpose, because German musicians are generally underrepresented in polls, though there are definitely a lot of excellent ones. Germany seems to be a kind of terra incognita for many, yet I assure you: Hic sunt leones! (Translation: There are lions here).
