Topic: Dull Men Against War (DMAW) Posted: February 11 2009 at 17:53 |
[serious] Bill Hicks is an hero.
[not serious] The gulf war was necessary for our great nation of U S of A to survive and to continue to practice it's great God given traditions of freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of religion Christianity. The survival of our nation and our Freedom was at stake and the fact that 150,000 of our Islamic enemies died and only 79 of our own died just shows that we are better than every other country. War is good. War is needed for human survival and the survival of our great many God given American liberties. God bless America.

Both yes and now. Add "childish" too. The DMAW thingy is actually very much in the Canterbury Scene Prog Rock vein. Bands like EGG and CARAVAN. I am not so sure if EGG's lyrics should be taken serious and debated into the early morning. Add Monty Python to the mix too........ Mostly, I write about cancer and being an ugly, lonesome man (not necessary related). I write books about this. I need to let of steam with listening to Canterbury prog and writing silly stuff in addition to the dark stuff I do 12 hours a day. I am not into sexism too. Although I am a sad looser who does not attract women, I do not hate them. I enjoy being a soundboard and using them as soundboards for my ideas for my creative output. Women are human beings too. I also regard sarcasm as the best way of explaining and do away with things like war and genocide. DWAW is my attempt of being sarcastic. Maybe I missed the target. But not all art/writing hits the intended target. As the old saying says "Success is buried in a garden of failures". Well, I am off to do listen to some more albums for inclusion here as reviews....... and complete my new book.

Or any acts of former President "W" Bush.

I've often considered joining the Dull Men's Club, but I always seem to come to the conclusion that it might be too exciting for me to be a member of a club.

I will join, except I don't like to hear the birds singing: it's too noisy for me.

I think that his point is that we men are so dull we have to start wars to off ourselves in great numbers for the benefit of the species. Interesting though that we often kill off each other in wars on such a frequent basis that the population tends to return to an approximately 50-50 proportion after. Good thing we're still necessary, but then I'm thinking, of course we're necessary, who else is going to fight all these damn wars?

I cannot agree with this thread. I've watched lots of war movies and I think it seems like it would be really great. I always wanted to be a hero!

Maybe we should not let this thread wander into sexist territories... unless it's already there because of the OP.

Women is generally regarded as interesting & exciting creatures. They are therefore not invited to the meetings in The Royal Society Of Dull Men (Europe), Dull Men Club (USA) and our joint peace movement Dull Men Against War. One female journalist wrote a derogatory piece on this exlusion of women five years ago. She stated that women too should be allowed in our organisations. She was then invited to one our our meetings. She then wrote a new piece explaining that it was the most mindnumbing wasted hours of her life. The feminist movement is therefore now fully endorsing the exlusion of women from our organisations & meetings.

Your avatar was taken by an SAS man. Did you know that ? I hate war. I`m sick of it. I`ve got 4,370 hours military flying time mostly on operational fast jets CT-114s, CF-5s, T-33s. CF-101s, F-111Cs ( with the RAAF on exchanchge). They would never give me a desk job. I also have some back seat time on F-18s and F-4s. I also managed a trip in an EA-6B Prowler. My dream is to fly a Spitfire. But isn`t it so ironic that these beuatiful machines are designed to kill. My uncle John was in the Regiment for 21 years and now he just likes bird watching.
I`m a very dull man who loves music. Progrock.

I`m referring to toroddfuglesteg here.

I have set up this organisation to modestly express my views in a modest setting, without colors and increasing blood pressure. This is views I hold and believe in. Here is an outline of why we dull men does not approve of war and please allow me to say; does not like war. - War means late trains and buses. - War means non-working public utilities. - War means change of our daily walk to our work. - War means disruption of the routine contents in The Times and Financial Time. - War means disruption of our daily lunch-hour. - War means changes of employers data-bases (for us who maintain them). - War means changes of our employers accounts (for us who maintain them) - War means changes in the undertaker business (for those of us who are undertakers) - War means no nature programs on BBC 1. - War means disruption of corn fields (watching corn grow being our hobby) - War means loud bangs from the streets. - War means no song birds in our gardens. - War means holes in our streets, hedgerows and garden fences. - War means shortage of tea, short-cakes and butter. - War means rising mortgages and insurance costs. - War means the closure of museums. - War means infrequent mail delivery. - War means cancellation of our annual holidays to the English seaside resorts. In short; war is not something we dull men approve of. War must be avoided. Please join this organisation if you share these sentiments (and you are not exciting by nature, ie woman). Torodd, chairman
