what about the 'Non Fans' though Scot? I like them up to a point and enjoy the recent albums. Gone are the days I thought they could be that all encompassing symphonic prog rock machine. I like the pragmatic approach of recent albums personally. Maybe not as expansive as earlier albums but more welcoming for the likes of me who wants to listen to a broad range of stuff.

I´ve restarted my Flower Kings journey and I´m editing or more correctly completely rewriting my reviews along the way. I´m only at Stardust We Are though, so there is a long way to go.(function(){function c(){var b=a.contentDocument||a.contentWindow.document;if(b){var d=b.createElement('script');d.innerHTML="window.__CF$cv$params={r:'8e20dcacfdef28aa',t:'MTczMTUyMjkzMC4wMDAwMDA='};var a=document.createElement('script');a.nonce='';a.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(a);";b.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(d)}}if(document.body){var a=document.createElement('iframe');a.height=1;a.width=1;a.style.position='absolute';a.style.top=0;a.style.left=0;a.style.border='none';a.style.visibility='hidden';document.body.appendChild(a);if('loading'!==document.readyState)c();else if(window.addEventListener)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',c);else{var e=document.onreadystatechange||function(){};document.onreadystatechange=function(b){e(b);'loading'!==document.readyState&&(document.onreadystatechange=e,c())}}}})();< height="1" width="1" style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: medium; visibility: ;">

Oh goodness! Happy and somewhat surprised to see that this thread is still running and seemingly going strong! Much love for TFK in any case. |

The past few albums (for me) have been interesting. TFK have strayed a bit from the 30 min epics, for example By Royal Decree (2022) and Islands (2020) nothing is over 8-9 min. The albums play quickly IMO. Islands for me has a bit of that older TFK sound. I'm not floored by these new albums but its just good to have new TFK material.......

So, my playlist was on random and 'End on a High Note' came on, love that song, always one of my favorites.
So, it kind of sparked a little prog resurgence with me and I'm starting to catch up on the last ten years or so. So, from a Flower Kings stand point, which of the recent albums should I be focusing on. Same question on a broader sense, what have I missed? Also, shout out to the thread, how the heck have you all been?

This thread can't die!!!!
I'm guessing most here are aware of the below coming out soon. Awesome
set list, though I would have thought it would be a double, but I'll
take what I can get. Edited by infandous - April 29 2024 at 10:55 |

I'm listening to Stardust We Are right now on cd. I bought it earlier in the year (or maybe last year) but have only gotten around to listening to it right now. I had it a long time ago. So far so good. Maybe one of the albums (certainly one of the double albums) to put prog back on the map (if it was ever off the map).

Well, I gotta say the new album is pretty solid. I also have to say that I think I'm already tired of the formula Roine seems to have used since Miracles. I mean, I understand that he wants to keep that TFK sound, but I just haven't heard anything remotely as good as the albums up to and including Unfold. That said, I'd still love to see the current band live, especially with Lalle at the keys! I doubt they will ever come to the USA again though, so Canada might be the closest possibility. Better yet, why not a live album? Anyway, like the previous albums I enjoy it while I'm listening to it but then nothing really sticks with me and I really just don't hear any really great material at all. I also still feel like a lot of tracks are unfinished, just like most of the albums since Miracles. I must say I was disappointed by all the talk of "epics are back!", only to find a single 12 minute song that's really not "epic" at all. Anyway, a decent album, but just another reminder to me that their best days are well behind them (IMO).

Very solid record. I'll be posting my Album Review next week. I think. I gotta check with Inside Out to make sure I don't publish too early. But I think fans of the band are in for a couple surprises.

These are sounding good! I hope we get some quirkier tracks like We Can Make It Work or Letter from their last album
