To tell the truth, KC had let me wake up to the real progressive rock world.
Especially, that squeaky sound in Starless and Bible Black...
How is your feelin'?

King Crimson easily. Perhaps I haven't given GG due diligence, but from what I've heard they have only one album that can keep me satisfied all the way through (Three Friends). As for KC, I can easily listen to their first 7 studio albums all the way through. All I can say for GG is gg.

Crimson every time. Gentle Giant are a constantly interesting experience, but they simply never were as evocative for me, and the stunning Lizard, Court, Islands, Larks' and Discipline are all stronger (to my taste) than any Gentle Giant album.

GG for me, although KC is great too. But I can't believe GG is losing by such a wide margin. Come on everyone, remember Beat (Remain in Light's - Talking Heads reference - poorer cousin)?

King Crimson. Their music is perfect. "Moonchild" may suck, but it's perfect.
Haha just joking. I really need to get some Giant albums, so I may be biased, but I prefer the dark and innovative KC over GG a ton. No hate towards GG, they're amazing too, and definetely one of my newest faves.

I'll vote King Crimson because their early albums are really unique and atmospheric, and it's one of my most listened band, but I think that GG deserves the win here.

Both are in my top 3 bands along with Univers Zero, so I'll throw in a vote for the underdog this time.
