70`s what else do expect from me ? Abercromie`s recordings were the best.

I haven't seen any drop in quality of music from a decade to another.
 
There is no Jazz ''Abacab'' or ''Big generator''  from ECM in the 80s...Just some musicians who changed a little bit their styles for the better or worst due to ''maturation'' , not because of charts!.............Jan Garbarek comes to mind!
 
Of course i love the 70s albums from TERJE RYPDAL more than what he produced later, but it was always good quality anyway!

can't help but love the 70s, most of my fav ECM albums are from that period........

Wow this is a tough one. The good thing to note is that ECM has remained a great, consistent label. The 70s really stand out to me because of the Towner, Abercrombie, Walcott, Gismonti, and early Metheny and Metheny/Burton albums, Keith Jarrett, Ebernhard Webr and so many more artists....Oh...I guess I just answered the question. haha. The 80s were so good too like the 80/81 album, the latter era Abercrombie albums, Charlie Mariano, Gary Peacock, Towner, Oregon, Towner and Abecrombie, and so on.

So I vote 70s. But I like them all.

A hard one for me.  On first impression I'd say '70's though when so many prog artists were going commercial in the '80's there was so much good music happening with that label which you could turn to.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

i think in 80īs Manfred Eicher was produced the best of ECM.
