Well I hardly received any letter about Aphrodite's 666 being so many things into one in my Eclectic mailbox, so I'm sure the Zeuhlists are far from receiving any serious such demands anytime soon...

A great album but definitely not Zeuhl.
Isn't 616 the true number of the Beast?

In parts, possibly; overall, not a chance... Eruption from Focus's Moving Waves as a Zeuhl-like vibe, but that's not Zeuhl either. Vangelis has came close again on Heaven and Hell (and probably on Horizons from Jon & Vangelis's Private Collection, but I haven't listened to that in years, so I maybe miss-remembering). Lots of musicians were experimenting along similar tracks at the beginning of the 70s so it's not surprising if they sound similar at times, but to be Zeuhl you have to set out with that intention and no one could have done that in 1970/71 except Magma.

Actually I think 668 is the neighbor of the beast. |
Well, you know 789. Numerical cannibalism, that's all I have to say.

As little as I know Zeuhl, I'd have to say maybe. And I've known the 666 album for a while...

Aphroidite's Child masterpiece gave us a deep trouble, because it contains elements of Psychedelia and Ethnic Canonic Orthodox Greek Music, so the band was mistakenly placed in Folk Prog, despite the whole structure is clearly Orchestal and Symphonic without any doubt.
After a couple of years the Symphonic and Folk Teams decided that Aphrodite's Child had to be qualified exclusively for it's only real Prog Release (666), so with mutual agreement, it was moved to Symphonic.
But Zeuhl? The only connection is that they lived in France, but not in search of French influences, only because the band was not admitted in London when their working materials were found at the custom guards.
