I don't have any form of digital TV - Rupert Murdoch is rich enough without my contribution. I do go to my local to catch Sky sports though.

Digital TV is TV that's broadcast (and received) digitally. In order to receive digital telly, you need either a box to sit on top of your existing telly (cathode ray, plasma, LCD, PC-TV Tuner card, whatever), or a TV with a digital receiver circuit built in. The latter are rare - I'm not sure if they exist. But a digibox can be bought for about £60 or so, and allows the reception of around 30 "free" TV channels in the UK (you still have to pay a license!), and DAB radio stations using your existing aerial. Or you can subscribe to Sky for £20-£40 a month and get the same 30 channels, a dish on your roof and a whole load of tosh Cable TV is the same as Sky, but you get it via a cable. Sort of. I don't think it's technically the same as cable though, doesn't cable need some kind of physical connection rather than just a box? I may be wrong. |

TECHNICAL QUESTION: can any of you get the ASTRA satellite reception? It distributes SKY, CANAL PLUS, PREMIERE etc? in EUROPE. |

I've got NTL although if I could I would put up a satellite dish but in the area I live in it would be a problem to do that.

You mean digital cable? I have that. I thought you guys were speaking of plasma vs. tube. |

It means digital TV as in digital reception, not plasma etc. Mind you, it's hardly worth getting a decent TV in the US - unless you want to watch thirty minutes of adverts every hour in better quality |

I am still analog, cathode-ray tube T.V. *sigh* I guess I just don't have $5,000 USD to sock away in a slightly better model of something I already had. If I had $5,000 just laying around, I'd buy a Les Paul or put all of the moola in a money market to get me more $. I know; I'm a greedy SOB. |
