You might like Acid Mothers Temple.  I've heard a few albums by them, it's pretty good stuff but their music seems too extended, which is weird since I generally like stuff like that.  Still enjoyable.  I've been digging Electric Orange a lot lately, it's pretty "krautrock" sounding.  Circulus are worth trying out too, probably my favorite modern psych folk band.

Not necessarily psyche, but worth a try to see if it can elicit a favourable response (and something a bit different):

Ship To Shore - Nigel Mazlyn Jones
Revival - Al Basim (rare - my avatar)
First Utterance - Comus
Phase V - 35007
Dracula's Music Cabinet - The Vampires Of Dartmoore
Tramsebox - Radiomobel
Armageddon - PLJ Band
2005 - Korai Öröm (highly recommended)
Into The Hidria - Hidria Spacefolk
Nihonjin - Far Out

I'll add another interesting one to this list:

Muckef**k - Muck Groh

Personally, I think you'd like Animal Collective if you don't mind some folk with it. Try Sung Tongs or Here Comes the Indian.

Let me just start by saying I appreciate every post in this thread. Your posts are important.
I gave every band mentioned here an honest listen. I was not able to find anything as moving as the music I usually listen to. I mentioned liking older music but I hope you can believe that I am not going to be biased when I listen to a new band. That's pointless...what would be the point? I want to enjoy music today. I wouldn't say I'm biased, I have no problem appreciating the art in 1990's U2 Achtung Baby, and that hardly fits the form of what I usually listen to, or even the art in Offspring's "smash". They both had something to say.

The problem with all of these bands I have is that they aren't musically stinging enough. Espers. They're fine, I don't hear them and think rubbish, but I certainly don't think I've stumbled into anything especially free. My issue with them is that they seem too neutral; they could make an interesting musical point if they wanted, but something is missing.
Phideaux - competent musicianship, and doesn't bother me really, but again, the opportunity to make a bold musical statement is thrown out the window in favor of I don't know, what's the word, complacency? It's not that what he's doing is bothersome, but it really doesn't seem anywhere near as inspired as I expect music to be. I saw porcupine tree in concert and have not been a fan.
Oceansize takes too long to get to the point, and the point isn't really that unique in the first place (especially with the song commemorative T-shirt).
I listened to "The Fate," and every song on the Future Kings myspace site, and found myself a little saddened that they too took a while to get to their point, and saddened that they relied so heavily on reverb and tape/synth/key whatever effects. This too me is not the essence of psychedelic music. Adding reverbs and synth blips with echo on the end does not equate to me psychedelic. For me psychedelic is a term used for music made as an intellectual puzzle to be pondered, breaking through to a new musical discovery with the mind at large-   I do not feel any of these bands have taken this step. I don't know...I hope not to be a big bummer here, but another part of me says, jesus, this is it? In all of 2008's vast society, this is the best there is for the genre? I've searched a bit myself and haven't found anything that moves me. I'm not older either, I'm not "set in my ways". I'm really dying to hear a moving new band.
But, I appreciate all the links and hope to see more, because I'm still searching.

Try:

The Fate Of Old Mother Orvis by The Future Kings Of England. I think this is just what you'll be looking for.

Try..

Negative Zone is probably the most-Floyd influenced out of these. While Oceansize add elements of alternative rock, the music of Phideaux is difficult to describe, but at least to me seems very psychedelic.

If you also like heavy parts in the music, try

Their earlier albums are more psychedelic, while the later are more heavy.

I hope that helps Wink

Can you please direct me to the best new psychedelic bands out there? I don't mean Mars Volta, but acid drenched new music like pink floyd. I would really appreciate any myspace links, band links, or anything...
I only listen to old music and now I want to hear what's out there today. Thanks a lot.
