Thanks for the recommendations, I'll try those you listed :) Too bad I did not had the chance to go see Porcupine Tree, they were playing here week ago, but I'll get their record instead. btw Demons & Wizards and Iced Earth are awesome :)

Welcome to the site.  I am always happy to welcome a fellow Rush fan to the forums, since they are my favorite band.  I also like most of the other bands that you have listed.  I think that you will find plenty of additional bands during your visits to PA to appeal to your tastes.

A band that I always like to recommend to fans of Rush is Tiles.  Their Present of Mind album is really very good.  The producer on their albums is Terry Brown, and Alex Lifeson makes a guest appearance on their latest album, Fly Paper.  Other progressive metal bands that you might enjoy would include Shadow Gallery, Enchant, Thought Chamber, Psychotic Waltz, and DeadSoul Tribe.  My favorite prog metal artist is probably Ayreon, so if you aren't familiar with his rock operas you might want to check him out.

Not on prog archives, but a band that might appeal to your Iron Maiden side might be Iced Earth.  I'm not sure if you are familiar with them, but they are heavily influenced by Iron Maiden, Blue Oyster Cult, and Judas Priest.

That's all for now, but if you like those recommendations, I will certainly be happy to try and recommend some others.

Greetings from Finland.

I'm new to this site and I just wanted to say hello to everyone :)

Reason I registered to this forum is that I want to found some new bands to listen to. I like for example Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, The Who, Rush, Dream Theater, Dio, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Fates Warning, Kingston Wall and so on. The list is very long and wide :) However, recently I have been listening bands like Symphony X, Liquid Tension Experiment, Opeth, Queensr˙che and so on and I like them a lot. Maybe you could recommend me some bands, based on those I mentioned. Few words about myself: I'm 33 years old and live in Finland. If I had to name my favourite band I'd probably say Rush or Iron Maiden.

I hope my english is good enough, so you understand what I'm talking about :D
