Concerning Under Wraps - I like it a lot.  "Later That Same Evening" is cool because it covers an entire techno thriller novel in three verses.  "Nobody's Car" is a real rocker that captures typical 60's spy movie themes, but in a very complex way that vaguely reminds me of Gentle Giant.  And the acoustic version of the song "Under Wraps" is just beautiful.  The plugged in version is great too.

Yes, I do like Under Wraps.  It's still the second worst Tull album ever though.  Catfish Rising is my least favorite Tull album, but I like it too - some of it anyway.

Finally the allies come out from under the wraps Wink You got it, governor! Techno spy thriller is spot on. The mood is cold warish (twas the times) and one of the better "new wave" albums of the time. Yes, Yes we know that it was far from the classic folksey Jethro but on ITS OWN MERITS, I enjoyed this album then as much as I do know . So "Stand up and fight coz you know we are right" LOL

A is an album of two sides. Or at least it was when albums had sides. Side A is great. After Black Sunday it's a very patchy affair and the only other track I like is And Further On. Broadside is my second favourite Tull album after Songs from the Wood and is highly recommended.

Crest of a Knave is an underatted album IMO. Okay it does have an 80's sound but it also contains the excellent Farm on the Freeway.

I like Under Wraps a lot. Not bad at all.

A is my favourite and better than Broadsword. More vibrant.

If you have to duck, let me join you. This album has been a whipping boy for the purists but I liked it then and I like it now. Smile I also enjoyed the spooky Cold war theme as well, Very similar to Walking in Light which I also get a kick out of. If Under Wraps would have been an Ian Anderson solo album, it would have received way less flak. BAMM! What was that? another rotten EGG or was that a Tormato? LOL Hey, I Liked Thomas Dolby's Golden Age of Wireless , so why blame me?

In a vibrant tribute to our respected TZIRSMAYWink, i will give now a spin and a new chance to UNDERS WRAP.
I bought it back last year to complete my JTULL collection, but the love affair between me and this CD stopped thereLOL .......let see what happens now!!!

'Tis good, don't worry about that, it's JT, it's good. No really, I was watching the Slipstream DVD which comes with the A cd, inspired by this thread, and yes, it's a great album in my opinion.

Yeah, I don't care for the 80's electronic stuff, but I can get over it if the music is good.

nah, Under wraps is a good album as it is, but still probably second to last on my J-Tull list nevertheless.

About "A". One should probably approach this with the precaution, that the album was originally made by Ian Anderson to be recorded as his first solo album but due to certain circumstances, well, it was after all published as the Jethro Tull album. It's basically got more of those 80s drums and synths that we all know so well, than any other JT album. Basically the new members replaced the old ones who were about to leave anyway, the publishers wanted it to be JT...

Broadsword and the Beast is one of my all time favourites. I'm already contemplating on getting my 3rd copy of it after a vinyl and the original cd

I've never heard Under Wraps... should I consider myself fortunate? LOL

I agree about Broadsword and the Beast being Jethro Tull's best eighties album.
