He was a very interesting experimental/ avant/ jazz artist/ guitarist.  I'd love to see such progressive musicians on this site, but I don't think he quite fits the parameters now (he may have made forays into it, but he's not really in the rock scene.  He didn't even like to describe himself as a jazz musician).
