Actually the 5A top shouldn't add to much to the price, it'll be the really complex electronics and Moog brand name that have inflated the price by so much although obviously the decent hardware is also a factor since a lot of top end Fenders and Gibsons still use the same hardware which is used on the low end models.

^You guys did read the fact it has a 5A top right? That is a big contributing factor to the price.
It hasn't been made expensive for the hell of it, if you look at pickup/electronics system and the quality of the body's top, then it's actually pretty fairly priced for an MIA compared to say, Gibson guitars. And also, bear in mind the Wilkinson trem, the locking tuners etc, are all top shelf hardware. |

Six grand is awful hefty for a guitar that just has a fancy sustainer in it....I bet that within a year or two there are kits on the market for sustainer like that like there are for normal sustainer today.

I first saw that guitar from a link posted on another forum.
I have to admit, I actually think it looks really awesome. The Wilkinson trem with graphtec saddles looks awesome too, as well as the gold plated sperzels (I've got the same tuners on my own guitar). I guess I would never end up getting one, but damn, that is cool. Oh and Vernon Reid totally rips, top notch stuff. Probably my only complaint is the 12inch radius. I tend to find fingerboards feel the most comfortable to me 14 inches and above, and vibrato has always seemed much easier on 14 inch+ boards too. |

As the title suggests Moog are putting their own stamp on the electric guitar. Here's the basic specs:
Super Strat shape Mahogany back with 5A Flame or Quilt Maple top. Glued in Maple neck Ebony 12" radius fretboard 22 frets Scale length of 25.5" Moog customised Wilkinson trem with graphtec piezo saddles. 2 noise cancelling Moog single coil pickups and finally loads of very complex Moog electronic stuff. The price is an eye watering $6495 more info: http://moogmusic.com/moogguitar/?section=product&product_id=21129 I can't see this being a big success at it's current price but it's an interesting concept. |
