What is the web’s largest music database?

I have been searching for the largest web database on bands and
recordings and have found the following the largest:

  There are always cases where a group or recording is in one database
but not in any other.  One of the hardest to find is "Luna Cinese" on
Cramps record label  "costin mireanu" .   Thanks for any
suggestions...........

is similar to cddb.com in design however some content is different.

There is http://www.iuma.com - www.iuma.com   and another you might try
is Second Spin.  http://www.secondspin.com - www.secondspin.com   and,
of course, ebay.

in the prog arena exclusively  there are Proglands.com and ProgArchives.com

 They are mostly indie sites. cdbaby has 70,00 0 recording there are
probably 50 that are really great but how can you explore them all ?

has almost everything there is. Gemm also show you how the internet
should really be used!

that gemm has everything ;)  You can test the limits of a database by
seeing if it has all of the following:

I also discovered that there are loads of music "blogs"  where indie
bands post their mp3s and indie sites with their mp3s. I will try to
search through them and see if there is  something good.

In many cases some bands in one DB are not present in another, and in
some cases some bands have exactly the same names but are different;
they aren't aware of each other. I guess out of 1000 bands maybe only
one has anything original but you can never know without hearing them
all.......

Found two sites where any band or person can post their mp3s. And others
can hear them all free. This means that you don't even need to burn a CD
to have your piece heard anywhere in the world! That is amazing .......

electronic books "borderline" vernon joynson (fuzz acid
and flowers; tapestry of delight;  dreams, fantasies and

hmmmm).

Foetus has done some electronic stuff over the years (are they even
around anymore?), but nothing I can recommend and there's the rub.

A lot of Internet sites are available but few offer *real* information.
Really, the internet can be a resourse for junk and misinformation
beyond what has been seen before.

 With this in mind- I don't visit many prog or AOR sites and stopped
subscribing to such magazines on the same subjects several years ago. (i
think the last time I read Exposure or Progression was 3-4 years ago and
I think these were promo copies?)

I agree, there is way too much out of date and FAKE information on the
web. But there are also alot of unknown bands and combinations. I didn't
think PUNK and ELECTRONIC music would combine, but then I guess all
kinds of combinations are out there. Also beware that many small unknown
bands have some really great music. Just listen to "Time of Change" of
the Trip (1973).

Progression is a great magazine - i have been a subscriber since 2000.
I was a subscriber to Sea of Tranquiltiy until they stoped printing.  I
have not tried Expose.
