I send them a message on MySpace, that may result in a 'preview' of some of the CD tracks, David.

Oops. I meant "won" instead of "one". The fingers got the wrong message from the brain. Unfortunately, I type those kind of mistakes way to often, but generally, I catch myself. I missed that one.

I'm torn... they're a good band and certainly do a kind of HeavyProg (with Eclecticisms) but, as a professional group, they sound almost there but not quite.. perhaps waiting for a CD would be a good idea

Well, I tried TMV a while ago, and I wasn't very fond of it. Listening to this may make me reconsider, The Burning is definitely Heavy Prog or close to it, and Seven Back is also well done - although I don't really appreciate the vocals. The intro to Paternal Silence (almost) mocks a few old Rush intro's if you listen carefully. It's a quite eclectic track, I can understand why they won (why did you write that as one?) a Battle of the Bands contest. Great musicians, far from bad compositional skills - and very much in line with my taste. Given that the self released EP is available, and the album in the making this one is send off for evaluation by Heavy Prog. |

I ran across this band Day in Age while perusing the net for Michigan based prog bands. They recently one a "Battle of the Bands" type competition here in Pontiac, Michigan. They have released a self produced EP and they are in the process of recording a full CD. They have a relative who's who of influences on their MySpace page but many of them are prog and they call themselves prog so they might appeal to prog fans. I am listening to their track Seven Back and it kind of has a TMV feel to it.
