Yes - The quintessential band logo! 2nd would be Zeppelin and 3rd would be the Stones (the tongue is classic!) Besides Zeppelin's band logo, it also has the "runes" symbols - one for each member - from the album IV ("untitled"). I still love these despite their over-commercialized use on t-shirts for poser/emo kids at Hot Topic. Jimmy PAGE John Paul JONES John BONHAM Robert PLANT

I admit that VdGG are one of my favorite bands. however, I really think the Escher-style letters of the logo are very fitting for the band, which is why it is an excellent logo for them
|
I agree...
And all of you people, you can't fail to see the magic in the DT logo... (which was originally for Majesty, which explains why there's no D or T on it...)

From the list - Opeth's logo is super cool but a b*gger to carve into a school desk - you could knock-off a reasonable facsimile of the Yes logo in a few minutes with a pair of compasses |
As far as the school desk-test is concerned, I always used this Rush logo (sorry, couldn't find the logo on its own):

red hot chili peppers
so simple, yet so recognisable. Yes's logo's a little too flamoyant for me...

The old Marillion logo, I think.
I never heard anything from Opeth , but their logo is cool, I must say. I also liked the old Traffic logo.
