Tangerine Dream is more experimental, and feels more meaningful than DT. Don't get me wrong, I love DT as much a man can love a heavy metal band consisting entirely of talented, yet older men.

Tough choice, I go with DT, unless I want to fall asleep; TD is quite useful for that.

I go for Dream Theater but only for a handful of songs. I am not into progressive electronic and so I won't judge Tangerine Dream (though Phaedra sounds quite good to me).

;) If you haven't already noticed, there are very outspoken DT detractors here. Put DT up against any band and there are those who will be inclined to vote for the other as a vote against DT. Anyway, I honestly prefer Tangerine Dream -- it's not an objective/ rational choice, it's a subjective/ emotional response to the music. It's the right choice for me.

Never really heard much Tangerine Dream, but I'm definitely not voting for Dream Theater.

Tdream has not only defined a musical genre but doing it for over 35 years. From the early years in 69-70 , pretty much up to the mid-eighties , the quality is exceptional (Phaedra, Rubycon, Ricochet, Stratosfear, Force Majeure, Cyclone, Exit, Tangram, White Eagle, Pergamon, Encore, Poland.....) . I hown 37 albums from this amazing german group.
DT on the other hand , I own NO release and frankly, c'est pas mon style!

Because Tangerine Dream are really awesome too, and it all depends on taste for some (since the two are very different). I finally ended up voting and gave the very slight edge to DT. Two very good bands though, IMO.
