just a few of my favs
As they nibble the fruit of my flesh I feel no pain, only a magic that a name would stain
With the first drops of my blood in their veins, their faces are convused with mortal pain
the fairest cries, "We all have loved you, Rael" Each empty snakelike body floats
Silent sorrow in empty boats A sickly sourness fills the room a bitter havest of a dying bloom (PG)
Sheathed in the Walkman wear a halo of distortion
Aural contraceptive aborting pregnant conversation (Fish)
Overhead the albatross hang motionless upon the air and deep beneath the rolling waves in labyriths of coral caves. An echo of a distant time comes willowing across the sand and everything is green and submarine (Waters)
Moving down the water, John is drifting out of sight It's only at the turning point that you find out how you fight. ..... I'm sprial down the riverbed my fire is burning low. Catching hold of a rock that's firm, I'm waiting for John to be carried past. We hold together, hold together and shoot the rapids fast. ... (PG)
She'll pray for endless Sundays as she enters saffron sunsets, conjure phantom lovers from the tattered shreds of dawn. Fullfilled and yet forgetton, the St. Tropez mirage, fragrant aphrodisiac the weathered tuberrose (Fish)

Ice - Crack The Sky
When the summer night has changed its warmer breezes to the icy cold of silent winter freezes, will you be there?
When the flowers in the windows of the neighbors start to bow their frozen heads and to leave us, will I see you there?
Will you stand by me against the cold night,
Or are you afraid of the ice?
Afraid of the ice?
Ice.
When the waters of the roaring ocean bring a chilling feeling and the beach is closing, are you near me?
When the cloudy skies are blocking out the sun and suddenly your nose has begun to run, do you still hear me?
Will you stand by me against the cold night,
Or are you afraid of the ice?
Afraid of the ice?
Ice.
Will you stand by me against the cold
Will you stand by me against the cold
Will you stand by me against the cold
Ice

close our eyes awhile as morning shadows play
and listen to the rain wash the long night away\
face to face we'll awake to see another day
and with hope in our hearts embrace this shade of gray
this pleasant shade of gray...

Hmm,
I have two lyrics that I love, granted, they're both a little self centered, but such is me...
"I am the catfish man, I can't hear you, Go ahead and have a nice day now, Go ahead and say what you say now, I stand humanis erectus hahahahaha, I am, I am, All of this in one man." Spock's Beard - The Light
"Any social occasion, it's 'Hello, How do you do', all those introductions, I never miss my cue." Peter Gabriel - I Have the Touch

I'll make you wish you hadn't burned our time before
I'll live through this in a manner cursed at my own accord
I don't want to go
So come on bitch, why aren't you laughing now?!
You left me here to fend on my own
So cry on bitch, why aren't you laughing now?!
Woah oh oh oh oh If my shame spills our worth across this floor
Woah oh oh oh oh Then tonight, goodnight... I'm burning Star IV
Only I don't even think of you
No I don't wanna think of you anymore
Goodnight, tonight, goodbye
Goodnight, tonight, goodbye
(pertaining to the part of the story in which The Writer realizes who is causing his pain)
-Coheed & Cambria, Apollo I: The Writing Writer (Sanchez)
I know a mouse and he hasn't got a house I don't know why I call him Gerald
-Pink Floyd, Bike (Barrett)
What do you get for pretending the danger's not real
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel
-Pink Floyd, Sheep (Waters)
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye? So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
-Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody (Mercury)

Waters seems to be popular, so I'll try and be original:
"Sweet child in time, you'll see the light,
Lines drawn between good and bad.
See the blind man, shooting at the world,
Bullets flying, taking toll.
If you've been bad, and Lord, I bet you have,
And you've not been hit by flying lead,
You'd better close your eyes, bow your head...
Wait for the ricochet..."
"I'm an old bluesman, and I think that you understand,
I've been singing the blues ever since the world began."
"Wondring aloud, how we feel today,
Last night watched the sunset, my hand in her hair,
We are our own saviors, as we start, both our hearts, beating life,
Into each other.
And it's only the giving that makes us,
What we are."
"And the love that I feel, is just so far away,
I'm a bad dream that I just had today,
And you shake your head,
And say it's a shame..."
"You put your bet on number one, and it comes up every time,
The other kids have just back down, and they've put you first in line,
And so you finally ask yourself, just how big you are,
As you take your place in a wider world of bigger motor cars,
And you wonder who to call on..."
"Down by the railway siding,
In a secret world we were colliding,
All the places we were hiding love,
What was it we were thinking of?"
"I'm waving my dick in the wind, yes waving my dick in the wind,
If I make it through the night, everything will be alright,
'Till then I'm waving my dick in the wind."
|
"There seem to be quite a large percentage of young American boys out there tonight. A long way from home, eh? Well so are we... Gotta stick together." -I. Anderson

SO good. Its absolte poetry more so than lyrics. since i cant help myself, im going to share "A Pitcher of Summer" with you, enjoy.
One morning, before the leaves began changing
I caught a piece of summer and poured it into a pitcher;
This I placed in the cellar on a shelf collecting dust .
Autumn, then winter, rose up from the sea, and my
Garden was a garden filled with unbroken snow.
No flower strained its face to the ice giants' whisper,
No life coloured the vision of a newborn Spring babe.
My cellar-water dripping into a pail
And I lifted my piece of summer
Like a piece of memory or a dream
Like these, caught on film
And carried it to the garden floes,
The wind turning drifting stars to madness.
Poured forth gracefully, this ctheric tincture
Lifts winter's coat-of-arms with coaxing aromas and electricity.
Used with vigilance, a Pitcher of Summer stirs a memory into swooning,
And bravely, the flowers of the past will stretch their limbs into the sky
While snow falls quietly all around.

Toby Driver is now my favorite lyricist. i absolutely LOVE his lyrics on Choirs of the Eye.
Heres a little bit of the end from "Marathon"
ike a kiss, soft, and wild with the delicate steps of petals fallen in a stream
This swirling ballerina turns in faint and sighing grandeur
Across the floor to me.
A monarch plays the violin to a summer's afternoon
Whilst quietly the earthworm adores the soil in winter's sparkling gloom
It breaks away, growing as the flowers do.
A thunderhead embraces his enraptured lover
And kisses with a gale that also makes the cattails shudder.
His tears cannot, as he proclaims his love, be held with lightning back;
They fondly dance into an open window
And fondly dance with mine.
Our eyelashes weaken with a weight that is sweet and fine,
And this feels like frogs and spiders in the sweet outside.
Tell me why world, unfathomable and good,
The beauty of everything is infinite and cruel.

"if I told you what it takes to reach the highest high, you'd laugh and say nothings that simple. But you've been told many times before messiahs pointed to the door, but no one has the guts to lead the tempo"
-The Who, TOMMY
"I know you're different. You know I'm the same. We're both too busy To be taking the blame. I'd like some changes But you don't have the time, We can't go on thinking It's a victimless crime. No one is blameless But we're all without shame. We fight the fire While we're Feeding the flames.
...Today is different. And tomorrow the same .It's hard to take the world The way that it came. Too many rapids Keep us sweeping along. Too many captains Keep on steering us wrong. "
-Rush , Second Nature.

All Peart's lyrics, but this one is quite magical for me:
I don't have faith in faith I don't believe in belief You can call me faithless I still cling to hope And I believe in love And that's faith enough for me
And from Yes - Soon:
The sun will lead us Our reason to be here
Pink Floyd - High Hopes:
The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever
The Gathering - Travel
I wish you knew your music was to stay forever And I hope...

did you forget the poet Fish from marillion xD
Stand straight, look me in the eye and say goodbye Stand straight, weve drifted past the point of reasons why Yesterday starts tomorrow, tomorrow starts today And the problem always seems to be were picking up the pieces on the ricochet This is the ricochet (Jigsaw, Marillion)
They will bring you rain They will move the sky They will give you light It will lift you long [it will live you long.]
To the eyes of child To the song of songs It will bring the moon It will transfer you (Jon Anderson i think speaking from any god that he had, anyway. Mind Drive, Yes)
