Topic: CD Player Question Posted: December 15 2007 at 02:18 |
Thanks for the help, guys. I'll work on getting the discs out and maybe doing a bit of cleaning with a can of compressed air.

I've got an older Sony up in my room that has a 5 disc changer, and sometimes the tray sticks and I find that I can pry the back off of it with a regular flathead screwdriver, and then use a Phillips head screwdriver to take off the protective cover on the tray. Then just give it a good whack and watch that sucker fly open. I have an '03 model, so I'm not sure if the same would apply for you.

Hey Eric, try looking for screws in the back, you should probably be able to take the top off. The player might be toast but at least you can get your discs, and if you're planning on ditching it anyway you don't have to be too gentle in taking it apart.

We have a fairly old Sony stereo system (maybe around 2001) with a 5 disc carousel. My wife has had it loaded with Christmas CD's, went to play it today and the only thing it does it makes a sound like the laser isn't catching (whizzing sound that last a few seconds and occurs about ever 3 to 4 seconds). Not only that, but now the tray housing the discs won't open. Has anyone experienced this before and how can we retrieve our discs?
Thanks in advance.
