Jeff Beck’s remarkable week at Ronnie Scott’s in London continued to gather steam last night with an extroardinary performance that culminated in a surprise appearance from Eric Clapton. Introduced by Jeff as “someone who knows his way round a Stratocaster”, Clapton joined the band on stage to perform “Little Brown Bird” and “You Need Love”. The audience of just over 200, that included Brian May, Jimmy Paige and Joe Satriani, leapt to their feet as Clapton strolled on stage and left his mark on what was undoubtadly one of the legendary gigs of all time.

With Imogen Heap guesting on Tuesday, Joss Stone on Wednesday and Clapton last night, it’s now anyone’s guess as to which of Beck’s friends will be next to grace the hallowed Ronnie’s stage this week.

Jeff Beck is at Ronnie Scott’s until tomorrow.
